The dog has been suffering terribly riding around in the Soarer in this hot weather. Decided I ought to do him a favour and get the air conditioning fixed. Nipped in to natrad and got the guy to hook it up for a regas but can hear the stuff coming out of the compressor as fast as it's going in.
Apparently these guys will sell me a 'remanufactured' compressor without the clutch for $330, plus gst and postage (to anywhere in Australia).

Must be a very huge leak from the compressor, sure it's not from the O-rings at the connections on the compressor?
The only problem is, it's a weird type of 10PA17C Body with specific mounting brackets for the Soarer so they probably won't be able to get it to you at that price.
You'll have to read all the numbers off the back of the compressor and send it to them to see what price they can get you.
Other than that you could just get your compressor sent to them for a rebuild which will be about a similar price.

Best bet is either.
1. Get all the numbers from the back of the compressor, I can do this for you as I have a compressor out of the car, then go down to Ashdown Ingram and tell them if they can get the exact compressor, they should be able to as they are a Denso distributor. They have their own brand that makes Denso copies they might have one to suit.
2. Just get a full rebuild done.
But try Ashdown Ingram, I will get the numbers for you if they are visible on my compressor.

Hey guys I'll get the numbers for the compressor.
I'm guessing 2jz-ge is the best bet since it's off locally avaliable cars, so if that fits that's the go for us 1jz Guys.
If the top plates are different, that's not a problem as What i've seen so far with Denso 10PA Compressors the top plates are all interchangeable so you can swap your old one over.

Ok Guys,
Here is the part number as they appear.
10PA17H 147200-9613 8L 0394
147200-9613 is the part number for the compressor body itself. Ashdown Ingram should be able to get one in and it should have the Soarer Specific brackets, you most likely have to re-use your top plate as they might not come with one,
Does not come with a clutch, it is optional for a clutch and the part number for the clutch should be on the clutch itself, I'd reccomend replacing the clutch as by now the friction material will be very worn out and the coil could short out in the future.
I've had a look at the SC300 2jz-ge Compressor, and it looks pretty much Identical to the 1jz-gte.
Another option if you like to DIY. The compressor body is made up of 3 parts. The "block" as I call it which is where the pistons live, front and rear plates, the block, front and rear plates are all held in by long allen head bolts. I'm very sure that any rear and front plates are interchangeable so long as it is a 10PA Series. So if for example you have an old 10PA17 Compressor lying around, you put your Soarer front/rear plates onto it, which contain the mounting tabs, and you can mount it onto your car, and then put the top plate on.
Otherwise the SC300 should be the go, Remanufactured units go for $150 US on Ebay but I personally don't like that word, New SC300 ones with clutch go for $350 US.
Get into contact with either Ashdown Ingram and Cooldrive and see the prices for a SC300 one, failing that, JZA80 Supra, I'm very sure they should be the same, otherwise just bring the part numbers in.
I had a look at a few SC300 compressors on the Internet, the mounting tabs look Identical.

To contradict that there has been a thread on Toymods where many people said the 1j/2j and n/a compressors are the same with just different interface plates.
It's really hard to get information sometimes, so the best bet is to just get a 2jz-ge compressor for a SC300 from Ebay and just bite the Bullett. The part numbers on Toyodiy could be different for a million different reasons too e.g top plate, wiring connector etc.

It's hard to say, on the Internet there is a lot of heresay because everyone thinks they are an expert to themselves, so sometimes you have to take the gamble.
What you could do, goto a wrecker and ask to have a look at a compressor from a n/a 2jz-ge then if it looks to be the same goto Ashdown Ingram or Cooldrive and get them to order one in for the SC300 or 2jz-ge n/a supra which should be in their books, they have the "BX Asian Range" which apparently is compressors for lots of Skylines/Soarers etc so ask Ashdown.
Failing that, just the numbers that I posted, bring them in.

Ring every single branch of Ashdown until you get someone who can use the part numbers to get you a price...... they are Denso distributors so they should know.
I just got a feeling 2jz-ge compressor will bolt up.
