Hey guys, just as a general enquiry for when I actually have the dosh to replace the climate control LCD/Assy.
Does anyone know if the unit can be replaced with a Lexus SC400 climate control? I understand the numbers would read in Fahrenheit, but it'd at least get the job done. I've had a look on toyodiy at the part numbers and such. The cable that it joins into seems to be the exact same item.
Don't know if I'd go down this avenue, but it'd be an interesting piece of information to have. Not particularly handy with a soldering iron unfortunately...

I'm not too good with a soldering iron, would probably bugger something up. The LCD's themselves don't seem to be much cheaper than the entire unit itself either.
Well, from what I've seen on ebay, the going rate for an entire second hand unit in good nick for the jap soarers (RHD) is about $120 - $160 (Currently one on ebay for $125). For the SC400 they seem to be about $80 - $90.
So personally I would expect the LCD to be cheaper than those going rates as that requires time and effort on top of the purchase.
I know I'm having a bit of a whinge, so pardon me
Realistically, I currently don't have the spare cash to pick up any type of replacement (Just bought rims/tyres and haven't started my new job yet). So I was just more looking to see whether the American units fit. The buttons are opposite placement as expected, and the temp reads in fahrenheit as well as having a slightly different layout on the actual screen. However the unit is the same size and seems to accept the same connections at the back, so I was more looking for confirmation on how viable it is.
And get someone local to fit it for you, shouldn't cost much in labour.
Probably the cheapest way to get a new LCD with Celsius and keeping RHD buttons.
Also purchasing another Unit with an original LCD, will only be a matter of time until that one's LCD starts to bleed, these new LCD screens will last a long time.
