It might be low on gas.

If it is still using the old gas, you will need a kit to adapt the AC for the new type of gas.

Could be as simple as needing a regas, but that's usually not the only issue, might have a leak of some sort or a part not working. Take it to an A/C specialist or a A/C certified mechanic to diagnose the problem.

as Vincent said, if it's still running the old jap R12 gas, the system will need to be converted to R134a new gas. Any Automotive A/C place can do this.

What type of gas does it use standard?
And if this is the case, should the light still turn on if I press it and the ac works?
Because, the light doesn't work, just beeps. :/

Run the diagnostics, do a search on how to do it.

Basically you need to short 3 pins in the diagnostics port in the engine bay, then turn the car on.

It will rattle off some codes on the display in the dash, then search for the error code. There are a bunch associated with the A/C.

You will probably get a bunch of codes that are not related to the A/C, this is because the ECU stores past issues. You can clear the memory by removing the battery and re-connecting, that way the codes should only be present issues. You may need to start the car and press the A/C button to make the fault register.

I had a problem that my A/C would turn on then within 3 seconds it would cut out and the A/C light started flashing.

The fault code was compressor lock, which can either be low gas or in my case the compressor was seized.

Also just a thought, does the A/C controls ^beep^ when you press the A/C button? All the buttons should beep when pressed.

Hopefully it's not the compressor they are a pain to find for TT's and just FYI they are not the same as V6's or V8's. Some say the V6 fits but you have to remove bits of your old one to make them fit, but I'm yet to see difinitive proof that this works.

I got one from a wrecker, for like $150 and they fitted it for $50 then it as another $50 to get it filled with gas.

I can't do this my self though, I'll have to take it to a air condition specialist and tell them exactly what's wrong and tell them What you said
Thanks for the heads up guys. :-)

You can definately do the diagnostics yourself and I recommend you do before taking it anywhere.

Might not help, but check that the cabin temp sensor hasn't been dislodged - in front of drivers left knee.
