Hi Everyone, I've had a bit of a bad day. I paid $450 to get my air con retro-fitted and re-gassed on my '91 Manual TT, and it still DOESN'T WORK because the compressor bearing has packed it in. And they want another $700 to recondition it.

Does anyone know of a cheaper way around this such as a second hand compressor or something?

Thanks for your time.

Hi Paul,

I have the same problem as you, when i turned my air-con on its very noisy

But the air-con works great and very cold with in high 40s but its very noisy...

Anyway i gonna ask my mechanic to check the Compressor Bearing out and see if the problem is the bearing...

As i heard a new air-con Compressor is pretty expensive!!

Paul I purchased a new compressor for my TT, it wasn't as expensive as first thought. Set me back around $650 from memory. That was through Penrith. My old one was noisy but it did work. Better to get it sorted out in case it damages the rest of the aircon system.
