there is nothing on the dash display, it's dead, seems like there is maybe no power to it?

Asked on Facebook and someone told me find the cig lighter fuse, which was blown. So display is back. But air is not cold (its summer here in NZ). Will it have to be checked by an aircon specialist, to diagnose? how do I figure out if the compressor is faulty? ( I gather that is a common fail)
