Hello guys.My name is Radoslav.I am from Bulgaria.I bought a soarer v8 1991 before a month. The car is very low mileage, around 77.She is with emv.Something very strange happen. When i click vent button, the screen go black, and can't control climate control. All other button, when i click it shows options on Japanese, but most important vent control so not work.I opened the emv 2 times, all connections where i think that can be bad, are resoldered by me.Fuses are okay. Have you got any idea, how i can fix this thing.. some transistor, or faulty capacitor or other?.I search, and do not find exactly the same problem.. I really do not like the emv, and would like a standard control from tt model, but yesterday i checked the orange connectors under the dash left side of the steering column/wheel, and they look without enough length for work...Any idea or help what to do are really helpful.Thank you guys
Sounds like the EMV computer needs a rebuild. Make contact with the Soarer Surgeon (Mike Beck) in New Zealand who is good at refurbishing these units. I would keep the EMV working rather than convert, but your choice.

there are a lot of thin pcb tracks going back to the plug. If you have the skills look for corrosion on them. Measure the resistance from the plug to the other end of the track. If you find a open cct solder a thin wire from the plug to the other end. I had this problem 12yrs ago and that was the fix. Sorry i cannot remember any more detail. Also look for any electro cap that is leaking or bulging out at the end. replace it if leaking.

Seems Radoslav found me on my Soarer Surgeon page.
Found me on Ebay first though haha.
Thanks for the recommendation Goetz.
The direct cause of the above problem is the computer being faulty. But that also means the rest of the units common problems are due to occur soon as it's unlikely they have been fixed before, and counter productive to only fix one of the few core faults these units get.
