I'm a new member but been reading on site for info for a while and never really needed to ask a question as iv'e found most of the stuff i need right here, until now.I got a mate to install a new dvd and screen but in the process has decided to clean up the rest of wires and cut some wrong wires and the air con no longer works. I looked at all the wiring and can only trace it back to and red and blue stipe wire and a blue and red stripe wire which ran into a foam covered curcuit board the sits in the dash. Does anyone know what this is and where i might be able to get one cause is starting to rain a bit now and cant use the demister or anything!!!

Open it up. If it looks like this then it can just be shorted out,
Just join the two wires together. If everything works then it means the choke is faulty. If not then you don't need a new one, and something else is the problem. The reason for opening it up is that the factory diagrams show a different type of noise suppresser which you don't want to short!!!(lots of sparks and stuff) I have never seen one of that type, they are all like the one in the pic but you never know!

from memory, as i don't have the part anymore, it has some resistors and stuff on it, not like the one in the picture. It was cover the same way but didn't have the little loom, just the red and blue wire running in. I'll have a good look through over the weekend and check for anything else. Please tell me you know what i'm talking about and havn't gone crazy or something.

There are at least two versions. One is a series circuit as shown and will result in no stereo if left out. The other is a parallel circuit and will have no effect if left out (engine noise may increase). Neither will affect the aircon unless wiring has been modified from factory standard. Easiest way to sort your problem is to get a replacement for that section of the loom. It is relatively small and just unplugs.
