Hi Guys Last summer my aircon was running perfect this year its not cold? I had the radiator replaced and that seeems to be running fine, the only thing i can think of is the electric fan infront of the radiator doesnt seem to work at all? also i just had it regassed last month.

Most likely they didn't fix the cause of the leak that required the regas in the first place.
I agree, there is a low pressure switch fitted which opens the circuit when low pressure exists i.e. low/no gas. This prevents the compressor from running, because the oil circulates with the gas. No gas, oil dosen't circulate, compressor seizes! You can tell if the compressor is engaged by the clutch in front of the pulley, if this is stationary comp is'nt engaged. If you only use your A/C during summer and have it OFF during winter, the long time that the compressor is not running will cause the seal in the front of the compressor to harden, thus fail. Id take it back to where you got it re-gassed and ask them for a re-gass with a dye additive for free. (This is if they didn't advise you to get the vehicle checked for leaks). This shows up the leak under a UV light, souldn't be too hard to find (unless it's in the evaporator(in the dash)), loosing almost a kilo of gas in a month indicates a decent leak! You may be able to find the leak yourself by looking/feeling for the oil that will leak out with the gas. Don't settle for a check over with a "sniffer", go the dye.

I'm bringing back an old thread but there didn't seem to be an answer to the original question. My fan in front of the a/c condensor never comes on either. The aircon guy checked the pressures while the car idled for 5 minutes and they were okay but this obviously isn't normal.
