Ok from hands on experience I put out the warning "To not buy these turbo's".
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=017&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=2 70149155910&rd=1&rd=1

They do not last and are a waste of money.Save your cash and do it right......Iether a single or GCG rebuild of the ct12a's.More expensive but will save you the pain.

I am in the process of stripping down the turbo's and replacing with the stock ct12a's so I can drive it.Pic's will be posted up for all to see.

Mine have been going for 20,000kms so far...
Have you pulled them out yet, are they definitely crook? Mine sounded absolutely horrible until I fixed a big boost leak.

Braden! I will have them out tomorro arvo. But I can gain access to the front of the 1st turbo,When I spin the turbine the shaft is bent,It's that bad you can see it plain as day.Common sence tells you it's fooooked...As for the rear one,I ain't going to chance it.IT'S COMING OUT!!!!!!! Hahaha.

Mine had done 10,000k's at 14psi,Then I boosted it to 17psi on the dyno and only got 300hp,Also while it was on the dyno it made a large squeal just before it come on boost.

While I was at wakefield raceway on the 4-5lap that squeal came back but for good.No power no +boost only vacume.Neil had a quick look and thought the same as you but we changed the piping around and still ended up with the same problem.....The engine is fine so I limped it home and it was a long trip home.I struggled to get it up to 60k's up hill(It went like a 1.8 four cylinder)

For your sake I hope yours holds up.Don't boost it.

I recon that if anyone is going to buy them they should get them inspected by a turbo specialist before installation. If theyre no go swap them until you get a good pair. They seem hit and miss, while some have failed others have done over 100k.

They do seem very hit and miss! I've put up to 20PSI through mine fine, but daily I run 15-16psi without problems.
A mate of mine is a very good mechanic and he did a top job with the fitting, didn't bend anything except one of the water lines to clear the rear actuator. A bent fin sounds more likely to be caused by a foreign object hitting it?

When I blew the wheel off my rear ceramic CT12A, the car was a pig to drive, fuel econ actually got worse, and it felt like driving a 1.8ltr pulling 1500kg of car! And made some pretty horrible noises.

How you described your ceramic's,is how the steel wheels sound.

I took them off and found the front turbo has a bent shaft and some scoring on the inside, the fins are worn.No sign of oil leaks. The rear is ok,But it is not staying on.

It made some really bad noises when the intercooler hose was partially popped off, it would still make around 10psi but any more would leak out. Thought it was a blown turbo, but the noise went away as soon as I fixed that.

that is the EXACT thing that happened to me on the second day i owned the car, it was within 24hrs of payment, i picked it up on thur evening and fri afternoon when i hopped in, no joy, no boost and a worrisome squeal when it should've been on boost.

I think saying it drove like a 1.8 is an overstatement, felt worse than a 1.8, not good times.

Wasnt the best thing to happen while still in new car joy mode...

I had been looking at these turbo for a while on ebay. I asked Grant Bojanjac (Per4manz Turbochargers) about them, he advised to be very weary of these, his reasons were that the build quality is very suspect. I think that the seller is buying them cheap out of China and making a quick dollar. I asked him what brand they were so I could do some research on them, but he failed to supply me with any usable information.

I think the problem is Jeff that the first batch seemed to be OK , I got 120k from a set and are still going strong at 240rwkw on another car as far as I know, a few others had OK results.
They dissapeared for a while and then this second batch turned up and have been nothing but trouble.
If you went by the early results you would think they where OK.

I've been in contact with a friend who bought a first batch set back in the day and he's are noisy but holding together.

As Dean stated, going by the original few sets you'd think they would be alright.

I think the problem is in the balancing and cheap bearing material used. It might pay to have them balanced professionally before installation for those who bought a set before the warning from Jeff.
They can also be rebuilt properly for roughly $750 a turbo.

I have a set sitting in my shed, in their original boxes. These are one of the first sets he sold on ebay. Lucky for me, these are an emergency set and I wasn't planing, anytime soon, to have them fitted.

Wow listen to them howl! Mine do the same thing (the quieter whistle), but I guess when you are at high revs constantly the heat will kill them pretty quickly. How many PSI were you putting through them? A lean mix may be to blame...
I doubt they are well balanced to begin with though.

18psi and the afr's were very rich as I had 440cc injectors on and the SAFCII couldn't take anymore fuel air mixture out due to timing(That's what I was told by Yuvuz)He recommended using a aftermarket fuel regulator.Other than that he got 300rwhp out of it at 18psi...
The very next weekend was the day she blew and It was the first outing of the day....
Great day
$100 entry fee
Blown turbo
and It was the second lap ....... Priceless!

Haha But for that very short bit of fun,They pulled very hard at 18psi.I felt every bit of 300hp.
Now with a Gt30/37r under the hood I can't wait to hit the track again.
