Hi Guys
After receiving an extensive defect notice in the first month of owning my new TT, I decided to go the route of getting some of the mods engineered rather than the usual "revert to stock". I have discovered that there is not heaps of info around about this subject, so i'm starting this thread so others can benefit from my experience.
I have discovered that there are so many things that cops can defect you for, if they know there stuff. Here's a short run down of my "defect experience"
I was in my old hometown, Armidale NSW. Being home for the first time in ages, i had been driving across town a few times, visiting family and friends and shopping for G'ma. I got pulled over while heading out of town for a "random" breath test. Passed that no dramas, and was then asked to pop the bonnet.
I'd been noticed round town apparently. For doing "blockies". Which is definatly not me. So the 2 cops bust me on my exhaust, atmospheric venting BOV, boost controller, Pod filter and FMIC. AND give me another fine for "excessive emissions" (exhaust and BOV) and given 14 days to fix it all. After a bit of research, i'm counting myself a bit lucky cause there's so much more they could have found!
Anyway, Back in sydney, I am in the proscess of getting the car ready for its engineering inspection. $400 for peace of mind is worth it in my book. I've removed the BOV and bleed valve, got 4 new tyres (Nankang NS2s) and a Clutch (Clutch Industries RPM). Just a stock airbox and i'l be sweet! After the engineering theres only the EPA and AUVIS tests, then the hours of waiting at the RTA to go. I hope that's all!

Ha!David i'm not surprised it happened there mate.I grew up in Armidale myself. There is so many cops getting around that its beyond a joke. Most of them tools as well. I don't get home to often and only once since i owned the soarer.Though mines stock at the moment so no dramas. My old V8 commodore was a different story, got defected on pod filter and tyres. Good old Armidale.....

I'm laughing so hard right now Will, you know the deal in the 'dale!
The funny thing is, my mate from school is a chippie there and drives a VN SS 355 stroker, his exhaust is like 120dB and he's never been pinged!
Theres also quite a few other soarers in armidale i've noticed...
Back to the point of this thread, I've found that any rim with a +35 offset or less is illegal on a soarer. The RTA states that "wheel track can not be increased/decreased by more than 25mm" and since the factory rims are +50, and the total difference in offset is 50-35 x 2 = 30mm.
