Hi everyone!
Some of you may knew already, Mr. Ueno is going change his D1 car for 2009. His D1 Soarer final run was at D1 GP in Fuji last week and was placed 9th on the day. He finished in 7th position for overall D1 2008 series. He used Soarer as D1 machine for 8 years. There are so many light weight cars in D1GP, such as AE86s and Silvias. but Mr. Ueno didn't change his mind about drifting with his Soarer! Numbers of Soarers that he built for D1 were 5 Soarers in total!!!
Mr. Ueno and all the stuff from VERTEX group would like to thank you for all the support for our VERTEX D1 Soarer! Please keep supporting us throughout the next D1GP with our new VERTEX D1 machine!
Next car that he is going to drive is BMW 3series. VERTEX is building a new VERTEX RIDGE series for BMW right now. This VERTEX Ridge D1 BMW will be revealed at Tokyo Auto Salon in 2009. Also VERTEX Japan will release many new body kits for next year!

Isn't the 3 series really heavy too? Something like 1550kg's dry for a road going base model 328 as I recall. I guess he's sticking with what he's used to.

No such model sold here in OZ as a current model and I would expect elsewhere too(320i, 320d,323 325,and 330d and 335). The weight is irrelevant based on the shots of the lightened panels etc already under construction in those pics but they start at 1390kg and finish with 1445 kg for the heaviest variant.
