| What I can't figure out, is WHY the hell they'd put Auckland aka: DORKLAND in 5th place????. I mean WTF are they thinking????........Eketahuna is WAY ahead, by a Looooong margin! |

| Zurich??????????????????? It's cold and flat and, well, also expensive . If you wanted to plonk me into that general area of Europe, I would rather Austria. Far cheaper, at least as pretty as Switzerland if not more so, and they actually speak German rather than mangling it into a budgie song (and as understandable). Practically any other country surrounding Switzerland would be better, perhaps surprisingly. Did I mention that they actually try to enforce their low autobahn speed limits? |

quote:5. Auckland, New Zealand 12. Wellington, New Zealand Bull Siht!!! Don you put them in there didn't you!
I agree, Tim, that is absurd. Wellington should be much lower. ....so should Auckland. Havelock is great, though |

| As the leading "Baa-Bonker" in this august assembly, I would like to add to the nay sayers re Auckland & wellington on the above list.................... Having lived in both, I find that the findings are at best.........Biased, and at worst.........A load of Bollocks!!!!. I strongly suspect that the poll taker was a (Drunken) resident of Auckland, with close (Drunken) relations that live in Wellington |

| You can't beat Wellington on a good day. Trouble is they've never had one... Auckland - Some parts are great, some parts are sh*tholes. Lucky for me I live in a great part. I Like Sydney, though I've only spent a few weeks there so can hardly claim I know it well. Likewise Melbourne seemed nice, if very flat. San Francisco has a pretty central area and inner suburbs, - otherwise - sh*thole New York was a nice place to visit, but I can't imagine it being plesent to live in unless you are filthy rich. Thats all the places on the list I've been to. I need to travel more... |

| I cannot believe how much total, smelly crap I am hearing from people about 'Auckland should be here' or 'Eketa-bloody-huna is better'. All should know that the 'Dog' (Hamildog...Hamilton) is by far and away the best place in NZ to avoid... This was a list of places to avoid wasn't it? |

| Have you seen who actually performed this survey? "Mercer Human Resource Consulting " "Zurich achieved high marks for its stable political environment, international relations, banking and health services" "The city lagged behind some others for airport and recreation facilities" So Zurich is the best place to WORK if you're a financial operator. In my book that does not make it the best place to LIVE. |

I wonder what that makes Invercargill then? Oh, and Hamilton has very good restaurants and cafes - but thats about all its got going for it. |

| Speaking as one who resides in 'cow town' I mean Hamilton. It's central to Rotorua, Taupo, either coast and Hawkland. Yes the restaurants/cafe scene is ok now. Also has an airport so as to escape the winter months. It's got a night-life where you can get into drunken brawls each w/e. There's the 'Rally of NZ' close by plus the V8 car race soon to be in town. Don't forget the 'Field Days', biggest agricultural show this side of the equator. |

I'd object to this but the wind keeps blowing my monitor across my flat desk. You'd think I'd get some excitement out of this but..... you guessed it - I'm too bloody bored |
