The normal procedure to remove the oil filter requires you to jack the front of the car up and remove the plastic tray under the engine, which has a mix of bolts and scrivets holding it in. A 10mm socket will undo them all.

This method assumes you can reach the filter by hand and undo it, saving you the hassles of removing the under tray. Try to turn the filter by hand, and also try a filter removal tool if you can get it into position. If you can't move it at all, then bad luck, you need to remove the under tray and do it that way.

First, cut the milk carton to about the same size as the new filter. I cut this one a bit longer then I needed to and it was just a bit fiddly getting it in and out of place.

Slide the carton down under the bottom pulley and check it is small enough to be removed easily later when it is full of dirty oil.

Upload

Slide it over to the right to sit under where the filter is attached so it catches the oil draining out.

Undo the filter until the oil starts running out and just leave it like that for a few minutes, then carefully remove the filter tipping it open end up so it doesn't dribble everywhere. Carefully remove the filter the same way you inserted the carton.

Dip your finger in the new oil and wet the rubber seal on the new filter, then locate it and screw it into place. Once it touches the engine block, only turn it another quarter turn or it will be too tight to remove next time.

Carefully remove the full carton the same way you put it in.

Upload

Tip the old oil from both the carton and filter into the catch tray along with the rest.

Now you need to
Fill the Oil.
