Dear Aunty Neil, I thought I would write this here instead of email just because you must get a lot of emails and i dont want to fill up you inbox.
I am interested in piping (everything actually needed other than the intercooler) for an intercooler (not sure which one yet maybe a Hybrid or Cooling Pro) for a VVTi. Now I understand you are the V8 guru but I'm also been pointed in your direction regarding this issue. I was also wondering if it will be expensive.
Yours Sincerely Byron

Neil you are a ray of sunshine (i mean that in a totally non-gay way).
Thats exactly what I needed a straight and easy to the point answer. Thanks mate, I'll go with the greddy.
I have one more question, take your time to answer it theres no rush. Sometimes when I'm driving and I'm giving the car full throttle in 4th gear the car will jolt for about half a second (as if I slammed the car into second only the revs dont rise). It happened twice today? Any ideas? Not sure at what rpm this happens at maybe around 3 - 5?
EDIT: Neil is this the intercooler you are referring to? This will bolt stright on to a 96 VVTi? http://hioctaneracing.com.au/eshop/product_info.php?cPath=88_101&products_id=767

They have some excellent prices on Greddy Coolers there (although prices are excluding GST and postage). I just want an Intercooler kit thats specifically for a VVTi.
Is the piping really that different? It's so annoying that its so hard to find VVTi specified parts.

Byron, The reason you cant find an exact kit is because of the small demand for the VVT-i JZZ30.
A Non VVT-i kit will all bolt up, BAR, the Turbo to gaurd pipe. This should be easy and not very expensive to have made.
I fitted a Greddy Kit to a VVT-i ( except it had a Turbo upgrade * GT30 Pro S * ) And I have NEVER enjoyed fitting a kit more than this unit..They are absolutly BRILLIANT.

Byron, you got 2 choices here mate
1st is a Greddy FMIC kit with all piping, silicon and clamps
2nd is a Blitz FMIC kit again as above, but a larger size core.
check www.nengun.com (sorry Neil) they offer both kits, when I checked before it cost around $1000 delivered to my door for the Greddy kit, or around $1300 for the Blitz kit delivered to my door. (prices will vary for postage)
Honestly thats your best bet, get 1 of the 2 kits mentioned.

Thanks for your input guys you have all been heaps helpful. The best price I have gotten on a Greddy is $730 (I'm picking it up from Sydney) from http://hioctaneracing.com.au and they even said they will be able to include the parts to connect to a VVTi.

Sounds like a great deal if they are willing to supply parts that will fit to a VVT-i. Byron, I think what Tim was trying to get at was that he could get you the same GReddy FMIC kit for $800.
Out of curiosity though, do you know what the dimensions are for the Spec M kit and whether it's a bar & plate or tube & fin?
I have a Spec V kit (upgraded version of spec M) and was wondering how what the actual difference is. I'm guessing it's the flow capacity, but I doubt anyone would be able to supply me with those kind of things.

I've just purchased a genuine GReddy M spec cooler for a good price off eBay ($585) for my VVT-i thanks to the recommendations of other members here. I don't know much about coolers, but I'd like to know exactly what is the difference that the VVT-i guys need for installation? Is it just a single pipe from the turbo to where? - that needs to me made and the rest is all bolt on?
