So you're saying, if I find myself a t56 gearbox not from a VZ but from a VY? Then I need this kit and it fits all up? Hmm

I made it that way Ali, I prefer a higher shift position, though I will make it a tad shorter, easier to start long than short, hard to add to short.

I plan on getting some steel ones made, then you can put whatever knob you want on it, so long as it has the same thread as the stick I will make.

Or,
Easy enough to make ya own gearstick to your preference.

Short shifter + Longer stick means hands closer to steering wheel, less time hands off steering wheel with changes still as fast as factory or faster= :-)

Short shift + short stick = synchros not enough time to catch up=shortened synchro life= :-(

For the serious track racer, this gear set is only $9,735 plus install into YOUR T56.
This is ALL 6 gears.

http://www.keislerauto.com/recent-news/the-all-new-road-a-track-6-speed.html

There is a cheaper 1st - 4th gear set as well. Synchro's on 5th / 6th.

My setup works like factory.

Unless you are trying to make your own setup, then you have to do "the hard yards" and work it all out yourself. Be prepared to spend a lot of "wasted dollars" :-)

Neil's kit brings the shifter up in the factory location so you just need to get the manual TT trim with boot.

Neil - seeing as I have your extractors in my Soarer, that rules out me installing a W58 manual. I have driven a R154 Soarer before and my memory recall is that is not a smooth gearbox in terms of gear changes.

How does the T56 compare to these two in terms of how it feels to drive, because I now need to decide which g/box I'm going with.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi Mark,
Yes, the R154 is industrial to drive, hahaha, thats why its in the Hilux and Hiace :-)
The W58 is a nice smooth changer, but weaker, thats why Toyota only place it behind lower powered NA engines.

The T56 is quite nice to drive with, can take some decent power upgrades, you have the double overdrive for the highway, put a Supra 3.2 diff in and you will cruising @ 300pkh, hahaha
Gearstick lengths are easy to change, as with my T56 shifter relocator, the stick becomes straight.
I must admit, I do prefer the T56 over the others ( I should have done this years ago instead of the R154 with the 1JZ clutch assembly )

The T56 clears my extractors very well.

If you use an R154 or W58 with my extractors, you will have to use an internal slave cylinder in the bellhousing.

I just need some advice on doing a manual conversion on a V8 Soarer.
