Console looks good....steering wheel, a little too woody for me.

Too bad about the wheel my car's got front accident history (hence airbag has gone bang!). But i'll tell you when i first saw pictures of the wheel i thought ERGGG thats so gross but in real life it is actually really nice to hold (good size and feel) and the look grows on you! The woodgrain on the aircon cam on the car i thought that my woodgrain was standard?! What head unit are you going to use sam?

i am getting the alpine iva-w200e double din headunit. basically exactly the same looking as the one you used in your picture. i chose the alpine over any other headunits because of its full speed ipod connectivity. and ive been looking for a leather/woodgrain steering wheel that i can use but retain the cruise control. i have yet to find anything worthwhile. does anyone know if you can use the later model celsior/ls400 steering wheels with the ucf11 as id love some woodgrain on my wheel.

no from other posts i've read there is a difference in mounting the different model steering wheels. I chose the Eclipse AVN6000 because of its built in Sat Nav.

ive heard bad news about those headunits. there is too many inputs on the back of the headunit and not enough wires in the cel to make all the functions work. nice unit tho, would be good to find an imported cel with this headunit already in it with everything working.

Bad things as in they die? Or bad as in people haven't been able to successfully retro fit them in another car?

no i don't have the eclipse head unit yet as its $3000 and i can't afford that just at the moment. But i have done heaps of research and turns out that yes the AVN6000 does have Australian Sat Nav as its got 2 disc drives 1 for the cd/DVD and one for a Map disc so it actually isn't very hard to make other countries sat nav. sorry thats all a bit jumbled its late and i'm tired

The celsiors I have worked on required the EMV head to have a boot mounted ecu or nothing will show on the display. You will also need to sort the aircon electronics out too. Fit and English double din, not a Japanese EMV I'd say - sorry

Yeah, I realise all that. This whole project may go in the bin, but it'll be a challenge none the less.
