Hi,
I've actually got a few questions:

I've lost my spare set of keys to my 1990 ls400. I was wondering if anyone would know how to source a new alarm remote. The alarm remote only says 'enforcer' on it. Also does anyone have good sites or shops in vic that have nice lexus keys at a decent price?

How far is the air suspension meant to move up and down? I can't seem to find any difference in the high and norm heights. I've asked the mechanic who did my rwc to check the suspension and he said it was all in good working condition.

Are replacement stackers expensive? I have the 6 cd stacker but theres nothing in there. It's missing the tray that holds cd's. Is it worth replacing or just get a new stereo? Which leads on to my next q - How do you put an aftermarket cd player into the ls400? I would really like to keep the original look though so i was wondering wether its possible to hook up another cd player to the factory tape player.

My climate control isn't really cold and my mechanic has said the air con pump is leaking. He's put new seals and some dye stuff that he said might fix it but if not it would probably have to be replaced. Anyone know how much this kind of thing would cost?

Thanks for reading my long post,
matt

I just got a quote on repairing the factory stacker in mine. It needs a new laser and a new spin motor. They quoted me $650 for the parts (genuine Pioneer only unfortunately).

So I'm going aftermarket.
If you just need the cartridge you can have mine for $30 incl postage.

I'll may be using the kit mentioned in the above post (I have ordered it), but I also may be going a double din, and getting a custom surround.

Suspension difference between high and normal is probably 1-1.5". Car takes about 40 seconds to change.

New alarm remote you'll probably have to go to the supplier in your state, and get them to calibrate a new remote to suit your alarm (I'm not sure if any general shop can do this?)

I hav no idea wether or not the laser and motor are still in good condition. Is there a way to test it? If not i'll just take the cartridge of you. Tell me how much the aftermarket costs you all up and post some pics.

Can you feel the suspension difference alot? I press is and cant really tell.

I had the wrong cartridge in mine when I bought the car, so I bought the correct one off eBay.
Put it in with a few cd's, and it would play the brand new one fine, sometimes play the few months old one, but wouldn't play the couple of years old one at all.

Took it in to get it looked at, and that was what they told me.

Going aftermarket can cost anywhere from $200 to several thousand, it all depends on what you want, and how much you want to spend.

I can't tell you if there is any difference in the ride comfort between High and Normal, but its easy to see the difference from the outside.

ok guys:

I've found my keys so i won't need to worry about sourcing a new alarm.

The air suspension is all working because i got out of the car tonight when i was parking it and checked weather or not ride height did change and it did
. btw is there a way to change the height on high without getting a height controller?

Now for the bad part: I tried my air-con today and no luck . It was fairly warm today and all that was coming out of the vents was hot air. It was just re-gassed not long ago (last thurs) and at the time it was cold.
Any ideas of what it could be and costs involved? Also any recommended air con specialists in the western side of vic?

Hopefully when it was regassed, they added some dye which should now be useful to find out where it leaked.

Look in through the front grill to the radiator on the passengers side, if it looks a bit oily, then you have a leaky O ring.

If its just been regassed, take it back to the place that regassed it.

Funnily enough, mine did the same.

I had it gassed about 2 weeks ago, and now its not cold anymore. I'm presuming the system has a leak, and they couldn't find it.

They would have put a dye in it, and with a UV lamp they will be able to find the leak much easier. Then they should fix the leak (at your cost) and refill the system (that should be for free).
