Hey all just had pedders take a look. steering rack needs replacing and so does the ball joint in upper control arm. i did search and saw there were 2 solutions re the upper control arm,(one was a ptfe bush replacing ball joint) other was grease nipple and polymar inserted.. as for steering rack, only heard about something like 850 for reco it.
Anyone can add anything? what have you guys done? know of? thanks Brendon

There's a place up here in Brisbane that will reco the rack completely for about $460.00 , add to that rod ends inner and outer from the States [approx $120.00 ] and that's not bad . A properly remanufactured rack from the States which includes inner rod ends would be about $700.00 landed . Let me know if you are interested and I'll E-mail you the brisbane guy's details . I also have a spare Celsior rack so we could organise some kind of exchange thing so that your car wasn't off the road too long . You can't get replacement ball joints for the upper control arm as they are a crimped/rolled in unit , I'm actually making replacement arms with V8 super car S/S oil and petrol resistant teflonhigh load ball joints and a bolt in pin to replace the genuine units , including machining you would be looking at about $250.00 each exchange , this would make them totally rebuildable so that next time you just replace the ball joint . I'm kinda a one man band at work so these things take a while , mine now need doing so that's speeding up the process !!
rich, was it you that a while back did thread showing pics about how you gutted the ball joint and replaced with the v8 supercar bushes?
that steering rack idea sounds good. myself am not mechanical, so if we can sort out getting that spare rack reco'd then sent down i can get my one taken out(while new put in) and send it up. my steering rack end and rack boot are leaking. Yes that was me , I'm actually building the jig for the mill work right now so they will be availiable soon , been on hold for a bit , but as mine now need doing that will get things moving . I think maybe the best way to do the rack thing is for me to deliver the rack and you can just pay them and they will freight the rack to you as well or something like that , give me a ring sometime .
