My car is running through a lot of fuel and its starting to get a little costly. I've done an injector clean, replaced fuel filter, replaced O2 sensors and also done an ECU swap but none have help at all. I'm currently getting about 250kms out of a tank and that's driving carefully.
Next thing to try is the MAF airflow meter and so i found this:
I have done the test and I get 1.5kohms at 12 degrees. Do you guys think that this could be causing my outrageous fuel consumption? And if so what would be the best thing to do?

My cars always been rather thirsty and i've led myself to assume that's its something to do with the ECU. Seeing as the celsior is a Jap import the ECU would be tuned to run on the higher octane fuel in japan, so could this be whats affecting consumption? I often smell petrol when i put my foot down so i believe that it is running rich. Now here's where i get a little confused, i've asked as many people as i can about this and i still get 50/50 answers. Half the people will tell me that if a car is running rich the fuel will smell somewhat different to unburnt fuel, and if i smell raw fuel than i must have a leak, but i've checked everywhere and tightened every clip on every breather hose etc. and there are no leaks. The other half tell me that the fuel will smell the same when a cars running rich and that's what i believe, as why should the unburnt fuel passing through your car smell any different? The fuel hasn't been combusted, isn't that what running rich is all about? So i dunno, what are peoples opinions on here? Dimitrios, what ECU swap did you perform? I once had a solution to this problem and that was to fit a UNIchip, i had the funds and all, but i wasted a whole day at a workshop in Adelaide because they were to slack to hunt down some pinout diagrams and so they couldn't be bothered fitting it. I 've heard of Adaptronic somewhere on here? Any celsior owners have one fitted? i don't have the $$ for a stand alone ECU just yet Finally, could you swap the ECU for an Australian delivered LS400, and would this have any benefit? Cheers for any help..
The ECU swap i did was a used one from a forum members write off. He said that before he crashed his car he was getting at least 500kms out of a tank and that was also give the car a little bit of a boot full. So that pretty much rules the ECU out as the problem.
