The unit took about 40 mins to fit , after all you only have to drop the tray under the glovebox to find the ECU . The car is now stronger everywhere , a little bit stronger to 40 KPH and then from there in it just goes harder and harder , shift points are changed and it kicks down a lot earlier and this with taking in mind I already run the K/D cable preloaded . The auto shifts are quicker and precise without being too hard or severe . There is no doubt that the timing is advanced , the car just seems to need less throttle to achieve the same speed so I expect the mileage to be better as well . I locked it in second gear and saw 7250 RPM on the tacho so the rev limiter is extended as well . A definite improvement and worth every cent !! And yes Mike that was the one on NZ trade me .

ahh wonderful i will have one of these babies in my celsior in the next few weeks and cant wait. at least i sort of know what to expect now.
and mike, installation only involves taking the 5 clips holding the black velvet glovebox compartment in (2 up the top, 3 on the bottom) then sliding it out, unscrewing and unplugging the ecu, and putting the new one in.

Sam you can actually leave the glove box compartment in , it's way better to drop down the bottom under tray , then undo the two bolts each side of the glove box door when you open it , then remove the three bolts on the bottom side of the upper under tray [ the one that's directly under the glove box ]and then that will come out as the ECU is actually attached to this .

No Bro that's not it !! It's below the glove box , when you are sitting in the seat there are two panels above your feet with the top panel meeting with the bottom/underside of the glove box and the bottom panel going to the firewall , the ECU is on the back of the upper panel . The lower panel will pull out as it's on clips , the upper panel has bolts on it , 3 underneath and the upper two either side of the glovebox and you can actually see them in your pics . My camera is at work so can't actually post the pics .

Sam, I believe he is talking about the kick down cable that runs to the auto transmission. When you floor it, the cable pulls and assists the gearbox in kicking down a gear. Maybe 'preloaded' applies extra fluid pressure (not sure) and this may help to firm up the gear changes as you drive normally.

Kev's on the money , that cable tells it where the throttle is , so preloading it makes it think you have more throttle than you actually have....so you get a shorter sharper shift , also it doesn't require as much pedal to get it to kick down , just adjust till it kicks down as quickly as you want , best thing is it takes about 1 min to undo it , makes the car much more drivable .

I found out i lost my licence about a week before the ecu arrived so i have only installed it and taken it for 1 test run. very very happy to say the least, i had much more fun than i would have with the stock ecu if i turn trc off and just flatten it, it just sits on the spot spinning. wild to say the least.
