Hey all,

Have just paid for a MiNES ECU to suit a Celsior from Japan, and now just have to wait a week or two for it to arrive. Looking forward to the said performance increase that I have heard about. Although when I finally get around to supercharging it, I guess the MiNES will be up for sale. Then again, maybe I will be happy with the MiNES power and just convert it to manual instead of supercharging.

Gee Mike, I haven't even got it yet and you are asking me about selling it. If you look, there is one on here for sale from about a month ago, not sure if its sold yet.

I hate to be the bearer of potentially bad news Kevin ....but if that unit you just bought was the one for $699 odd US on E-Bay I think you'll find that it is for a late 92 to 94 and as such the plugs don't match the earlier ECU's , even worserer is that apparently the board voltage changed so you can't even play the take wire's out of the plugs and move them game !!
Of course if it wasn't that unit then it doesn't matter , it's just that the 9547 seems awfully familiar .

Oh dear , that's the one , those plugs won't match the years 89 to mid 92 , they have bigger plugs and only 3 together and then the fourth plug on it's own .
My Brother actually bought the Mines unit I have and then found it wouldn't fit his 93 LS , so he gave it to me , his 93 LS400 ECU matches those plugs , he was actually bidding on it but it got a bit rich for him , he actually had removed his ECU to check that the plugs matched , that's why the mines number was familiar to me .

Oh POO Rich, does your brother still need one?

P.S. I didn't pay US$699 you mentioned, so if its wrong he can get it cheaper than that.

ANY aftermarket ecu will work in a Celsior.
However ALL will require some serious wiring to keep everything running as per factory.

(By the above I mean motec, microtech, wolf, etc etc, not plug-in ecu's like Mines, PowerFC etc).

Things like ABS, Airbags, aircon, suspension, etc could very well rely on data from the main ecu (road speed, revs, etc) to work correctly, and you'd have to spend a fair amount of time ensuring you keep the required signals.

If you just want an ecu, and don't care about the rest (abs, airbags, etc), then just buy whatever and whack it in. All can control a 1UZ.
If you want everything to work, and you want drive-in drive-out, then expect a hefty bill, and I'd ONLY go somewhere that has done it before (like Neils car)

Well, the MiNES was for the later Celsior 92-94 and I have a buyer already in New Zealand. But, I do still have an Adaptronic here for whenever I supercharge it. I guess I could get this put on the car now and see how much better they can get it to go.

I was under the impression that when getting an aftermarket ecu you only replaced the engine control one and left all the other ones to control electronics etc. I thought the celsior had 36 ecu's or something like that?

Like the main one under the glove box controls the engine functions right?

There is still the potential that some of the other ecu's rely on signals from the engine ecu (revs, speed, etc), and these need to be retained for perfect operation.

With stand alone management the factory engine ECU is still wired in and talks to all the other computers as well as the dash and auto gearbox, and the stand alone just intercepts the engine sensors and controls the engine.

As far as I am aware the MINES is a standard ECU that is internally modified and therefore is swapped out with the original ECU.

hrm, maybe i am one of the only other lucky buggers to have one of these..... teehehe
pitty i have lost my licence and have only done 1 test run in nearly 6months of owning the ecu.
i was very happy with the results and cant wait for the 9months to pass before i can drive it again.
unless someone wants to offer me something for the ecu...i could do with the cash.
