Hi,
After nearly 2 years of Celsior ownership I finally find a decent forum on these cars.
Unfortunately I have loads of questions which I am hoping I may find the answers to but I'll start with just 2!
Does anyone know if you can obtain replacement fender poles and my in car audio system appears different to everyone elses as it has 3 extra buttons near the top right of the panel labelled DSP,+,- the cd changer is boot mounted and the amplifier is mounted on top of it ( I have no output from the front right speaker I have looked at the LS400 circuit diagrams but there are differences)
Any advice much appreciated,
Cheers

Hi again,
I've took some pictures of the system fitted in the car showing the DSP buttons.

Steve, car looks nice!

I can't help with the Celsior questions, but did you try Toyota for the poles?

aaah, i just read up on dsp. It's basically like an EQ booster. kinda like the 'loud' function on a lot of newer stereos. It's a pre-amp adjustment. so if have a setting with say lots of bass normally, it will put amplify that when you put up the dsp level. It can also have preset sounds for your system. Just another option :-)

Read
http://www.gizmocafe.com/car-stereos/car-stereo-signal-processors.aspx for more info :-)

I'd get rid of the factory unit if i was you anyway. Makes a vast improvement on sound and options :-)

Hi,
Thanks for the replies.
I think my Celsior is a one off as there are so many differences to everyone elses.
It has coilovers with TEMS instead of air struts this must be original as there are no pumps, pipes or ecu fitted so it hasn't been converted.
As I said previously the radio/amplifier set up is different, going to try and sort the missing channel now with a signal injector.
regards,
Steve

What!,
Don't think so it came with the Japanese deregistration certificate and still has the Japanese stickers on the windscreen also found some Yen coins under the seat.
Must be a Celsior special prototype worth many $$$$!
Went to the Toyota dealer today to see about the fender pole,it didn't start too good when the parts guy had never heard of one and unsurprisingly I came out without one

lol. Don't bother with toyota Australia, at all. You'll either have to go lexus. or talk to rich on here to see if he can get you some from the US. Much cheaper that way anyways.

What is the Vin code. Does it start off UCF11? Maybe you have a UCF20 or a UCF10?

Post up your chassis code Steve, and I'll load it into my parts DVD program, and we'll see what we come up with.

Steve, have you tried any of your local Toyota dealers closer to home in the UK?

This forum may be of help also.

Yes I went to my local Toyota dealer in the UK the Lexus version never had this part fitted as it was just a Japanese thing same as the flare that fits under the passenger side footwell.
I am also on the Lexus Owners Club UK and I think there are 4 Celsior owners on there but mine is the only one with the Fender Pole and Coilovers as standard.

Steve, I haven't found out any more at this stage except that your car was made in February 1994.

BUT, I shall keep looking.

wierd. Being a UCF10 shouldn't it be produced in 1989???

But anyway. that's why it's different to everyone else haha. I've never seen anything other than UCF11's

Simon, i think you'll find that UCF10 is the 1st level (steel springs) and UCF11 is 2nd level (air suspension) in Japan.
It doesnt denote the year built, just the model.
IE:
1st generation 90-94 = UCF10/11
2nd generation 95-00 = UCF20/21
3rd generation 01-06 = UCF30/31
etc.
All locally delivered 1st gen LS400 were UCF10 with coil springs, whereas most imported Celsiors are UCF11 with air.
Having said that, it seems all export Lexus were just called UCF10/20/30 etc. even if they had air suspension as in the US.

Some UK Toyota dealers are helpful with imports, some are not. If the local Mr. T is of the unhelpful persuasion, try the next nearest. It's always easier if you can give them the parts number, though.

Might also be worth trying
http://www.cheaptoyotaparts.co.uk/ or http://www.japarts.co.uk.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for all the info I have now got a guy in Japan to whom I have sent a copy of the Japanese Deregistration Certificate to see if he can obtain any service history when it was there and also try and find a fender pole.
Mega thanks to Don for the Toyota look up, due to a lack of info the 1st registration date on my UK logbook is 01/01/1994 but it is obviously newer than this as the production date was 02/94.
Must have been made around the changeover from series 2 to series 3 ( confirms it's a hybrid special!!)
Cheers,
