I've done a little searching but have not come up with a clear answer. In canada (at least in Manitoba) I am some what limited to what fuel I can run. My choices are regular unleaded 87, Premium 91, and a 10% Ethanol blend 94 octane. The Ethanol blend is pretty cheap and highest octane, is it safe to run in the 1uzfe?
Mike, it might be apples and oranges. Over here, the number rating is RON which is an energy measure as opposed to Octane which is a measure of how hard it is to ignite the fuel. Higher octane means less pinging for example,
So your Premium 91 may in fact be the better fuel in terms of power and efficiency.
There has also been some discussion about the effects on Ethanol on various components in the fuel system over a period of time, and our cars were designed and built before Ethanol was much of an issue.

Thanks guys......I have found 92 octane here at one of the gas stations and it's reasonably priced only about ten cents more per litre then regular 87. I'm not really too interested in taking chances with this car, I can't exactly go to a wrecker and find a new motor if I need one.
