Gday gents,

I did a search on the issue but could only find issues relating to fuel guage.

My celsior has always had a problem with the temp guage, It reads halfway when the car is dead cold and works its way up to just before the red when warmed up. The car is definetly not running as hot as it suggests. But I would still like to have this issue fixed.

My assumption is that it is due to bad capacitors in the dash cluster circuit board but wouldnt have a clue which ones.

Anyone ever had/seen this problem and know of a fix???

Cheers for any advice!

I heard of this a couple of times , replacing the temp sender would be the best place to start , not too hard too do and cheap .
I always keep at least one temp sender on the shelf , while you are at it you should do the temp sender for the ECU as well .

Thanks again Rich,

Any idea if the temp sensors are generic Toyota parts?

I do have a pile of all sensors from my old crown (not 1UZ)

Rich, i'm not sure if you sell parts or are just a nice bloke that has plenty of spares haha.

If you do sell parts I would be interested in a set a sensors.

Thanks heaps mate.

Old temp sensor will work if its in the 80's and is the same thread.

Toyota used 2 different threads for the water temp sensor, and anything pre 80's may be the wrong resistance.

But if its from a 5ME or 7MGE you'll be fine.

Beautiful,

I have a truck load of 5ME parts.

I also have the factory workshop manuals for the 5ME and it states how to check the sensor with a multimeter.

If anyone else is interested in these specs I can post them.
