Hi guys,

I'm getting a "clunk" sort of noise from the Celsior when I go over bumps, let go of my brake from stop, and when I turn sharply.

Would this be the control arm bushes or something else?

Can anyone have a recommended place around the western suburbs (Victoria) where I could get this checked out and fixed?

Thanks,
Matt

Would I be right going to a normal mechanic, or should I go to a suspension specialist like Pedders?

Get a $14 check from Pedders to see if they can identify the problem for sure. Then decide where to get it fixed. Different Pedders stores are run by different people and have had varying degrees of customer happiness.

I would say that it will be upper control arms or actually the upper control arm ball joint , but you are probably due for the whole lot , upper control arms , lower control arm bush , rack bushes , lower ball joints and some radius rod bushes as well .
At the same time if they haven't been done you will need to do the rack bushes .

hey mate i had this problem thought it was the bushes and upper control arm replaced everything and still had the problem when i was replacing the rotors i noticed that the caliper slide pins where seized and didn't have any copper grease on em greased em up and got em working again. know the noise has gone. i'm not saying that this is your problem but it might help ya.
Cheers

Thanks for the input guys. I'll go down to a Pedders and get that $14 check. I'm due in for a service as well so I'll get the mechanic to take a look at the caliper slide pins then.

Hi guys,

Went to the mechanic today to get a service and found out exactly what was wrong.

Does anyone happen to have parts numbers for the following?

-L/H rear lower control arm bush (Stub Side)
-R/H tierod end (power steering rack)
-Transmission mounts

Cheers.

Matt if you need a tranny mount you will also need to do the engine mounts , same deal with the tie rod ends , if one has gone do both and have a close look at the other bush's , if you send me an E-Mail I'll send you a price list , I have just had in 3 sets of bush's and mounts plus lower ball joints , tranny mount was $68.55 and engine mounts $235.50 for the pair , this well go up a little as these where payed for when the dollar was 97 cents to the US dollar .

Yea, I got him to check the engine mounts and they looked ok. The tranny mount is going but still has at least 12 months in it he reckons. I will get him to check the other tie rod and other bushes end as well.

I'm after the parts number because my dad works at toyota and can get discount on stuff, but if its cheaper through you ill get them of you.
