Hello All,

I have a really odd annoying problem.
Firstly the cruise control wasn't working, but didn't have a fault. Air Bag error light = Open squib circuit(mentioned in old thread) and to make is worse the damn horn now doesn't work. I replaced the relay thinking it was buggered(looked a but burnt?!?) but no that wasn't it.
I pulled the airbag off to see if a wire was lose/broken/unplugged even. But all seemed to be in order. Then i had a thought, there is a wire coil that allows the horn/cruise/airbag wires get back down the column. Knowing it's needed so the wheel can turn left and right and not break the wires. BUT I think this is what has happened.
So my questions are, happened to anyone else? If so how did you fix it?
Cheers,
Hugh.
PS. ABS system is all happy, no Speed Sensor faults.

AIrbag error light sometimes mean the dash has been removed without disconnectiing the battery. It's a a fairly easy fix. Depends tho, did it just do it one day without warning or did the car come with it like that?

Not the Error 41 airbag issue, wish it was.
It's a error 14.
I've had the car 3 years, know it inside out. But these issues started around a month ago, airbag, then cruise and now the horn.

Assuming it's the wire spiral in the column, has anyone had to replace it before?
Have a part number?
Or bought one from a Elec. store?

Cheers.

I just try to have stuff on the shelf for myself just in case , it's not a problem if you have a replacement ready to go , so if I sell it cause someone else needs it , then I'll just get in another one !!
I have a spare ECU , a spare suspension ECU , a spare dash and so on , just gives me peace of mind .

Thanks Rich, I'll keep that in mind.

I'll pull it apart on the weekend and get some pictures and hopefully I can see what's broken.

Well I had another look, the spiral wire is in a sealed case. It has what looks like squashed pins, only gets closed once.
Tried asking toyota, not 100% sure on the part and the cost is $$$. To top it off, isn't one in the country.
So that's where I'm at, at the moment.
(Rich you have PM)

Hugh.

Tis' Done, Tis' Good.

All fixed, I did some calling around and managed to find a new Clockspring.
Cruise works, Horn works and the AirBag fault is gone. WIN!
Case closed :-)

Thanks All.
Hugh.
