Gday guys,

Was just doing some work on my car today and want to issue a reminder to everyone to clean under your rubbers and plastics where dirt, dust and grime may build up hold moisture and soon enough rust.

I have attached some pictures of a few examples of what you may expect to find. (added a few random pics of my celsiors)

I also think its a good idea to wax the area after cleaning as these are very mislooked areas that require protection aswell. To clean id recomend using something like mequires paint cleaner, Remembers its these little things we do that will keep our beautiful cars near perfect forever.

Awesome David, its the kinda stuff I do also...

Little things that go along way. Its horrible what lays under the seals and things. Definitely worth removing and cleaning!

After the winter we have had my poor Soarer has developed a mould problem on the boot rubbers. I'll pull them off this weekend and give them a proper clean.

Hey Matthew,
If you're not in a hurry to do the job, what I do is take the rubbers off, soak em in a bucket of hot water with some NapiSan overnight, then put em through the washing machine.........They come up lovely & fresh.
Then for the freshly dressed look, I soak em in a tray of Meguiars Vinyl & Rubber Protectant for an hour or so, then pull em out, wipe em down with an old towel and install.

Keeps the rubbers moist and factory fresh for mega yonks!

Wow I might do this!

Will putting the rubbers into the wash damage them at all?

hmmmm id be hesitant to put them through the wash.

I guess it depends on the type of machine, Mine has a big agitator thing in the center of it that would definetly tangle up the rubbers.

My sister has a nifty bubble generating washing machine. I would see something like that to be a non issue.

It didn't damage them (I've done it on several cars, not just the Soarer).

Our washing machine is a F&P GW503 "Smart Drive" type.

I wash em on the "Regular" cycle.

And thanks to David for starting this thread

No problem,

Another place to check for rust in Celsiors is in the little wells thats are on the very left and right hand sides of the boot, (with carpet removed they are under plastic covers.) I have found rust in the left hand side well in one of my Celsiors.

Best too check it out if you havent already.
