Im getting bored with my Celsior, All I can do is clean it and drive slow (if you call a skyline heavy and slow I wonder what you call a Celsior haha).

Im guessing im still young and crave more power, sick of my brothers $1300 VN V8 commodore beating me.

So I want to swap it for another car, Cant find any Soarer owners that are keen (well ones of equal value which are only worked auto's or the rare manuals) Found a Series 2 r33 gts-t owner that is keen. Did some research on them and they seem like pretty quick cars (easy mid 13's on basic mods)

Other then that im not sure what else to go for. 180's with rb20's are interesting but most are ratty and not of equal value yet to find a clean one to propose a swap. Aristos are nice but not of equal value for direct swap. I wont drive a 4cylinder no mater what.

So after looking into it all, Skyline seems to be the way to go, I can easly get Turbo/Manual/Black not the best performance cars out there i know but its a good compremise between looks and performance I think, I love the aftermarket suport aswell. If I can get some solid evidence on how my Celsior will go with a supercharger on it I may be inclinded to go that way, But I really dont want to fort out the money and only end up with a car that will still get beaten by stock turbo cars.

Please feel free to advise me something. (So i dont kill this thread I will post this in a new thread for you to reply to this in there)

Thanks

How much are you thinking your celsior is worth. (I'm assuming you're getting rid of the nice one with sunroof and mags...)

Me and my mate who was driving in front of me beat an R33 GTS-T at some lights one night. He had 3 people all up, I had 2 all up, mate had 2 all up.

He was driving his mum's daewoo lanos, i was driving my R31 5spd wagon with 4:11 diff gears. The Daewoo beat him off the line and beat him on the wind0out, i was nosing up my mates rear pulling back the throttle.

R33s are expensive, and heavy and slow. Celsiors are only slow cause they're under-torqued. Put a supercharger on and they'll kill a skyrice.

If you're looking at a skyline, got 32 or 34 if you really have too. Stay away from Rb20s. Not enough reliable power. You want at least RB25.

It's all about power to weight. I just bought a Cressida with a Celsior V8 in it and a 5spd, with aftermarket ECU and exhaust. I'm not winning anything at the moment cause i just get lots of wheelspin haha. But if i get rubber to road i'll leave a skyline behind instantly. There is plenty of conversions out there. There is a few S13 silvias running around with 1JZ conversions. Win-win. It's light, it's cheap on parts for car and motor, and you can thrash it and it should hold up ok. You can get manual Soarers for about the same money as your celsior i reckon. Post it up on boost cruising forums. A lot more response for swaps etc. there.

a 180sx with an sr20 is still awesome. They'll beat a stock skyline any day and the properly worked ones will kill worked skylines. unless it's a GTR. They're not a half bad car.

I rode in my mates supercharged R31 the other day. It kicked ass. Only running 7psi. Would flog all the factory turbo skylines, way more torque, instant power, and a lot stronger and cheaper. Forget horsewpower. You want torque, and instant torque at that. Cause at the end of the day you can launch and be away before the turbo spools.

Very well said.

Thanks heaps for the opinion, definetly one I must say i'm going to have to agree with.

Here is my ad on boost: Asking 12k, its definetly less then what I payed for it less then 12months ago, does that price sound about right? I got a feeling I will never be able to sell the Celsior for the money I want as the market is terrible hence why the idea of swapping for a car of equal value is more on the cards. Good looking Celsiors are still a rare and desired thing im sure.

Hmmm charging the Celsior has became more temping. The thing is also im not exactly after the quickest car I can have. But I really want to drive something that is a manual.

Maybe I should keep the Celsior as a long distance weekend cruiser, save up and buy another car to thrash during the week and for a to b.

btw, 1UZ manual cressida, is the red one I saw for sale on boost a while back? Very nice I must saw.

I doubt that.
Take it to the drags and you'll see just how slow (relatively) it is.
They are heavy cars.

Oh, and as for this thread, yes if you can afford another car (ie parking space, place to work on it) then its the best solution.

Buy another car that is not your daily, then when something breaks you still have the comfy cruiser, or when summer hits you still have something with aircon.

Thanks for steering me back on my original thought patern.

Sometimes it just takes an outsiders intelligent opinion to snap you out of crazzy thoughts (I dont want a R33 anymore)

I think I will just buy a Turbo Soarer for a dayly, My neighbour is trying to sell his atm for 6grand and no one has even called about it, I think I will just offer him 5 for it and thrash that thing for a daily bruiser!

1400kgs Andrew? Lets see now. I beat one in my R31 which was about 93kw at the wheels and about the same weight. This will be (with a proper tune)pushing around 170-180kw atw with a lot better down low torque. It feels a lot lighter, even lighter than my liberty. Skylines have no torque down low, they just wind out. I'd thrash one off the lights if i get the chance.

Yer David I got the red one. I love it to death already. Love driving it every day. Won't get sick of this one i'm sure of it. The best parts of the celsior + nice square looks, + 400kgs less + 5spd + aftermarket ECU + thrashable :-)

Good ad, but eww @ LS1. Crap motor compared to the 1UZ. Just ask Rich... and eww @ RB20. It's the worst of the RB series.

Remember if you're gonna go skyline go 32 GTR or something... R33 is heavy and slow and expsneive. Don't say I didn't warn ya.

Actually... My friend Liz is selling hers. It's got a fair few aftermarket performance stuff. Goes pretty good. Aftermarket body kit i think. I'll ask her for ya, tho she probably wouldn't want to swap, she likes her Fords lol.

Bit more than 1400kg, more like 1550kg (according to the weighbridge I went over).

I have no doubts that the car feels quick to drive, but as soon as you take it to a drag strip you'll realise its not really that quick (compared to other modified cars).

Sure you'll drill RB20 Skylines, but any RB25 powered one running higher than stock boost will beat you (assuming he can drive, which is a large assumption sometimes).

I know this because I built a 1UZ manual MX73 Cressida with extractors, twin throttles and aftermarket ecu 5 years ago, and in the time I had it I lined up many cars. Used to think it was near untouchable until I took it to the drag strip, then looked at the ET and the MPH, went WTF?? then took it to a weighbridge and wen't "Ahhh, there is the problem".

However, bolt a supercharger on there, and thats a WHOLE different story.

Btw, it was still one of the best cars I've ever owned/built, so I know exactly why you love driving it. Mine copped an absolute thrashing at times.

there's the difference. I don't take it down the quarter. For me it's just a drag off the lights up to the speed limit. I don't really care for speed, just acceleration up to the speed limit.

David man go for that 180... It's pretty nice. Got exhaust and Apexi PowerFC and bigger injectors and looks clean/nice. Go have a drive :-)
