Hi guys and gals.

Seems as i have made a booboo.. I have either fired something in the car, or my headunit.

My setup.

As the stock subwoofer was well past its due date, I replaced it with a amp/subwoofer setup i had laying around.
I placed an rca converter on the sub output of the original amp and fed the rca inputs into the second amp for the sub, ran power from the bat, and grounded it in the boot. There was also a 'control' wire (i think thats the name, not at car to check) which i ran to the appropriate input on the sub.

This setup has been working pretty well for the last year or two until the other week when the sub was playing up. I poped the boot to have a squiz. I as re adjusting the wires and i believe i made the 'control' and the power wires touch.
OPPS. Checked all the fuses, all fine.
Result - radio died. No power to it at all. nothing, nudda, zip.

Ok fair enough, i thought i blew the headunit. So last weekend I decided to take it out and have a gander around, all seemed ok, no funkey smell from the headunit. I cracked out the Multimeter and checked for voltage going to the headunit (power to the ac unit was fine tho). nothing.

So.. would any one have an idea what i may have fried?

Cheers.

Now that I think about it, i may have a wiring digram somewhere at home.

But if any one has any ideas (or wiring digram maybe?? :-)), give this poor musicless soul a hand.

cheers.

slightly off topic....but is the sub powered by the same amp as the one supplying all of the door speakers? or separate amp runs the sub?

I ended up finding a wiring digram for the audio setup buried on my computer and apparently it is run of the head unit. Ill send it through to you Greg.

Thanks Ryan, i'm going to do some more poking around tomorrow as the cd stacker has no power (wont open) and according to the wiring digram it runs of the same voltage line as the radio, Then ill get back to you.

hmm... well more testing has happened..

after looking at the wiring diagram, stacker gets its power feed from the head unit. So i connected the unit back up and the cd stacker started working again! but nothing from the head unit... grr..

I think i may take you up on that offer of the head unit ryan. Is it possible to test it before i buy(if you are in syd that is) ?
