I'm thinking about selling my wonderful SC400 and buying a Celsior.
After driving a friends the other week, I think I want one, but it's pretty hard to give up my SC.
Anyone know of a good one anywhere near the Sunshine Coast I could take a look at?

Mike, I would love to have one in the stable as well.
At least if I sold one of my Soarers, I would still have one

I havent driven one, but like the look, and the extra room would be great.
Sat in an LS400 in Adelaide a few months ago, and was very tempted.
Have a look in carsales.com. Plenty in there.
Do you want a Celsior, or an LS400 Lexus??
There is a few later LS400s with the VVTI engine.

Hi Ian. I have done a lot of research on the car sales sites and I've come to the conclusion that an earlier 'LS400' ie Celsior would suit me better as it has the air suspension (easily adjustable), often far less K's, is better appointed and costs less money.
The idea is to have a supercharger fitted to get that little extra I always seem to need from a car.
Yes, it would be great to have the vvti engine and the 5 speed transmission, but I think the cost is too high both in dollars and equipment levels.
I'm still having trouble parting with my SC though as it now has everything I want in a car except that limmo feel. We'll see what happens.

Mike, they are an awesome car. Mine is our family daily driver & I just love it. But plenty of Celsior owners have had problems with the air suspension, me included. I would consider the K's & whether the air suspension has been serviced, changed or modified. A full update will be in the vicinity of 4k. Mine started the "sag on one side" game after only 115,000k's
The air suspension is brilliant, and a beautiful ride, but the original units are now nearly 20 years old. Without a spruce up, mine rode like a boat full of Sumos. Its great now, but I did make the change to coilovers, purely from a cost saving perspective...still a $1500 investment though. Also the bushes in the front end will need attention if not done.
The supercharger costs, auto tweaks, air suspension & bushes should see you have a reserve of at least $8k on top of what you pay (if not already attended to)
Keep these in mind as part of your purchase price.
The one for sale on this forum would be a goody, as all of the front end has already been done.
That said, I managed to get one in good nick, low k's & after spending a bit of money its just beautiful. When compared with the other vehicles avail in Aus, I'm very happy with my choice.
Also remember that they were Japans car of the year in 1990 when 1st released & kicked all the euros a$$ in US that year too. They were released here for $118,000 in 1990 (see the NRMA review below) That has to say something for the quality.
I hope you come up trumps mate.

Hey mike,
I am thinking about selling my supercharged celsior. Just had it resprayed and interior re-trimmed. Let me know if you are keen to know some more.
Cheers,
Tristan
