Hi all,
Just replaced the front struts in my Celsior with brand new Toyota OEM units. They're the same part number and seem to fit fine, but the air line that runs in to the strut from the engine bay seems to protrude further than the old unit making it impossible to re-fit the rubber grommet into the hole.
Has anyone else seen this before?
It seems to be a manufacturing difference in the newer part.

I shopped around. Most expensive was CMI Toyota in Adelaide (my local dealer) at roughly $1900 PER STRUT.
Some other Toyota dealers in Australia dropped a few hundred off of that.
I found someone that could purchase direct from Toyota Japan, which brought the price closer to $950 per strut.
Someone suggested I try RB Toyota in New Zealand... ~ $450 per strut!
The differences in price across different countries' Toyota dealerships is certainly beyond my levels of belief.
In any case, I can recommend RB Toyota in NZ for Celsior parts. I ended up purchasing pretty much every piece front and rear (struts, all bushes, lower ball joints, tie rod ends, rack ends, etc) for about $3300 AUD.
If you're after quotes, send an email to bits [at] rb.toyota.co.nz.

Also, I finally got the struts in and I couldn't get them to pump up!
After messing around with it for a while, I was able to get them inflated by disconnecting the battery for a few hours and resetting the air system. When I reconnected the battery and started the car, still nothing happened and the height light showed neither "NORMAL" nor "HIGH" on the dash. I tried turning OFF and ON the air system in the boot, but nothing changed. However once I'd done this I turned the car off and started the engine again, the "NORMAL" height indicator came on the dash and the pump started inflating the bags.
Very happy with how they feel so far!

Tom Can you give us a list of all the parts you got, their part numbers and if possible individual prices. Prices are not that important if it's too much of a hassle seeing as how you have given us the all up price. Bob
