Overall I'm delighted with the LS. The old guy I bought it from has turned out to be somewhat of a truth stretcher. He wouldn't let me have his service records as he said he needed them for his business even after I requested copies. Of course, I'm in the process of going over everything to see how it all stacks up. So one of the first things I find is the air filter looks like it hasn't been changed since new. Damned if I know how air got through it at all. So $125.00 later I have a new air filter. The speedo works. Well, sometimes anyway. He (the seller) sent it away to Melbourne to have it fixed as part of the safety certificate requirement and spent nearly $400.00 in doing so. Unfortunately, the day I picked up the car, it stops working as it should and I'm stuck with doing something about it. I'm not driving two and a half hours to the Gold Coast and the same back home and then only to repeat the process to pick it up when it's ostensibly been repaired again. So I'm stuck between a pebble and a not so soft place. Not happy. Comparing the LS to the Soarer is probably not just, but I'm going to do it anyway. I like the smoothness of operation of the LS. Off the mark is surprisingly pleasant (wait till I'm done with it) and I love the styling. Already with my 18's on, it stands out. Whilst I'm at it, a question. Does the transmission have different change points to the V8 Soarer? I have to say I am more than happy with the higher change points of the LS transmission (makes a mockery of my question eh?). I'm still not certain which way I want to go with lowering the car. As I only want 30-40mm, it seems a little unreasonable to spend $1500.00 on coilovers to achieve this. Your thoughts on the above would be appreciated.

I'll have to give you some info , air filters same as genuine , $45.00 here in Brisbane !! Being an LS you just don't buy ANYTHING from Lexus Australia , get it in from the States two thirds cheaper . As to lowering the car check out club Lexus for the success stories and the not so success stories .

Hey Mike, Congratulations on the purchase. The happiest Celsior and/or lexus owners are those that have replaced the air suspension units with originals and swapped all of the associated gear (bushes etc)and then used a high end suspension controller. I am selling one by the way. regards rob

Hi,
Maybe Power mode is selected on the ECT switch, which is why you are experiencing higher shift points, or maybe the ECU is just programmed to shift at higher revs.
