People said I wouldn't get much for my Soarer, but I proved them wrong as it was an exceptional example. I ordered the leather seats from the USA. A company called 'Leather-Seats', dah! As for fitting them. Don't ever attempt to do it yourself. I had a number of people helping me for days to get it done. Huge job. Pretty happy with the end result though.

looking good mate, nice to see people continuing to breathe a bit of life back into these old girls.
unfortunately, the money just isn't out there for these anymore.
i've had mine for sale for a lot less than it owes me for a few months now and i have had barely any interest what so ever. have since dropped the price to 10,500 - any lower than that and i'd be giving it a way and would much rather just keep it then take such a heavy loss.
that being said, pouring 5k in for a s/c kit to net you 200rwkw in an 1800kg auto car doesnt really seem like the smartest investment either.....;-)

Mike: Hate to tell you but my celsior is neater then this and there is no way id even be able to sell it for more then 8. Might get 6 for it The rims on it are worth 3grand alone. Better off just hanging on to it.

Mike, the wheels are by SSW Samford and I've been called a lot of things on this site, but 'sir' is not one of them. Ben, stop me next time you see me and we'll have a yarn about cars. You keen on coming on the next cruise up this way? PM me if you wish.

Double your figures and you'll be close. I've been told before that "You won't get that much" and proved them wrong. The old adage 'you get what you pay for' applies here.

Just as an example http://www.discountusedcars.com.au/used-cars/lexus/ls400/5311371.aspx This car is older than mine with the same K's and is stock. I figure I've made some pretty nice changes to mine without being overdone. The whole car is sorted and there is nothing to do on it. I'm not trying to justify my price, but I know what good value is, and my car will be just that.

Why is it that people want to bring down prices, even on items which are similar to those they own themselves? As I said before, I knew what my V8 Soarer was worth and that is what I got for it. Many people said I wouldn't get anywhere near what I asked, but I proved them wrong. If you have something fully sorted and in very good order, why not ask a premium for it? I am well aware I could pick one of these up for $3000.00. I've seen one, but it is a far cry from mine.

because the market value is representative of exactly that - the mass market, and the relationship between the average consumer and the average example vehicle, which means if you want to sell your vehicle in the average time frame, you need to set a realistic price.
even if your car is in above average condition, you're still selling to the average buyer who only wants to pay the average price.
so - the only other way to interpet it is, if you want an above average price, you will need to wait until the small percentage of above average buyers (read: enthusiast) comes along - which means you will be waiting an above average time.
on average.....
if someone comes along and offers me good money for my car, i'd sell it, even though i love it. because i am aware that buyers are few and far between and if it ever comes to the stage that i really DO want to sell it, i might be waiting months, even a year, to get a fair price. the alternative being, to take a bath on the price, and get a quick sale......
