my celsior appears to be loosing all its coolant from what appears like a leak on the front of the block, i can only assume its from the water pump.

or if not i may as well replace the water pump, timing belt etc while i have everything apart.

just wondering if the ls400 pumps are different in any way? looks like eBay USA is the place to get them, shame they don't have genuine OEM ones cheap tho. I don't trust GMB water pumps at all.

Cheers

Why do you think the engine is stuffed?

Though overheating is the way to damage it. :-(

well what happened was i headed off to work (only 5-10minute drive away) I figured it should be alright to make it for a short drive.

i got a few km's up the road and the engine just lost all power and starter shuddering and barely moving the car at all, i could barely drive it off the side of the road, the manifold overheating light came on. I managed to limp it home, i wasnt sure if the transmission was stuffed. seemed like when i shifted to neutral the engine would rev freely again. Come to think of it im starting to think i may of just lost spark to one bank of cylinders as the power came back on and off as i was limping it home.

Later on when it cooled down i started it up and it seemed ok.

I know something at the front of the engine block is leaking ALOT of water. Id say the water pump.

In any case i have already removed just about everything at the front and need to order new bits and pieces today express post.

Dont suppose there are any good places in australia to get bits cheap? otherwise EBAY USA is it.

also since LS400 radiators are different to celsiors, im thinking of ditching the hydro fan and converting to an LS400 cooling setup, seems like i simply have to get a clutch fan to bolt on and use the ls400 radiator & shroud.

castle hill Toyota can get genuine 1uz-fe water pumps at a good price and yes ls400 ones would be ok because its the same engine.
