I was wondering how many Kms you get after the red light comes on and how many litres are still in the tank. I am guessing atleast 10litres left

In my Soarer TT, when the light comes on, it's got 10L left. Being a Toyota, the Celsior is probably the same buddy.

The red light on the Soarer means "less than 10 litres left". Mine shows 9 (V8).

I get ~150km after my light comes on. If I fill up immediately after it lights up, I can only get 60L into the tank, meaning that there is around 18 litres still in there. Better to be warned early I guess.

As for the "crap in the bottom of the tank", I changed my fuel pump a few months ago, and for a 10 year old car, it looks like the tank was installed yesterday. Nothing in the bottom of the tank at all.

Also remember, the fuel pump has a filter on it, plus your fuel filter underneath the car, then a filter on each fuel injector.. that's a hell of a lot of filtering even if you did have a few dregs at the bottom of the tank.

I was on the way to work when the orange light came on. I decided to chance it and got 50 miles before filling up. It was a nerve-wracking experience, though.

In the LS400 I get an orange light before the read light. Is it the same in the Celsior?

At least in mine, Orange when 10L left Red when 5L left. The red one with Japanese text where all the warnings coming up.

My Soarer is like Jan's (orange below 10, red and Fuel Empty below 5) except for the minor detail that it is pessimistic by 4 litres. That is, when it says it has 5 litres left and flashes Fuel Empty, it has 9. Guess I should clean the sender some day but I do not really mind having a reserve reserve.
