Hi everyone, I just got my hands on a Celsior the car came with a Panasonic sat nav system and TV as well as a factory mounted rear TV (from the roof)
I'm having a bit of trouble with it, I want to know if i just buy an NTSC to PAL converter will it work and show aussie channels, currently it just shows 1 or 2 aussie channels in black and white and hardly any sound.
Also the rear tv has its own remote but it doesnt turn on I tried changing the batteries and but still its dead I also found a fuse for it in the engine bay but the fuse seems fine.
In regards to the sat nav part of the system it has a unit (like a stacker) in the boot and has a panasonic japanese CD inside but as soon as you select the navigation mode it comes up with a japanese message across the screen I'm assuming its because the CD doesnt have the aussie maps. any ideas would be great
Last but not least the remote entry from the key doesnt function I changed the battery and made sure the switch for the remote on the right of the sterring wheel is on the ON position but still no go, is there a fuse for it?? or is it something that cant be fixed.

PAl to NTSC converter will give you maybe one or two channels but no sound. The Jap TV stations are on a different channel spacing and sound is 6MHz offset instead of our 5.5MHz. In short you need a new TV tuner unless the aftermarket one you have now is multi-standard.

That's the one I use for TV conversions. I can get them a bit cheaper.
No converter can do what you want. You will need to change the TV tuner unless it is the same as a Sorer one (unlikely) in which case Vlad has nutted out the conversion of standards for them A good analogue tuner is only $100 from Brash's but you'll need the PAL to NTSC converter too.
A digital TV tuner CAN have an NTSC output from a received PAL signal and most have the option so therefore will not need the PAL to NTSC converter. The catch is that I've yet to see a digital tuner that is any good while the car is moving.
