I'm in the process of changing my water pump and timing belt over and I was wondering if anyone knows what fluid is used in the hydraulic fan system? I wasnt to happy find out the timing pump had been changed at 980000km yet they didnt replace the water pump while they were in there. It had just started leaking, but was getting worse very fast. The front bearing was totally shagged. Anyway, fluid type anyone?

on the cap of my fan fluid it says to use a dextron type II atm fluid. the exact on i don't know but the service book that you have got for the american ls400 should have it in there somewhere.

american ls400 has an electric fan. But now that I look, yes on the cap it says dexron II, thanks.
