Even with freight and exchange rate thats still cheaper than I can get here and they come with a life time warranty on the airbag and better revised dampening in the shock part . I very much have a thing against buying from Toyota/Lexus here in Aus as they overcharge beyond belief !! The ball joints I got in from the States which were genuine Toyota/Lexus cost me Aus $85.00 each including freight and exchange rate , the best I could do here was well over $200.00 each !! They come from the same place so who's making a bucket load then ??? Air filter from Gold Coast Lexus is $106.00 !! The exact same thing in the States is Aus $21.00 and if I buy ten at a time that comes down to $15.00 each , even allowing for freight cost why should I buy from these thieving mongrels here in Aus ?? they need to have a rethink about their cost mark-up , their is no doubt they are missing out on millions of dollars by trying to make a killing , the original buyers might not care that they are paying 3 times as much as they should for their parts , but down the track people like me do care . If they were close I wouldn't bother getting stuff in from the States , too much hassle , but when I save at least 70% per item thats the way it's going to be , $22.00 for an air filter...Haaa , get stuffed Toyota !! Sorry Andrew but please realise this wasn't aimed at you !! You just opened the flood gates !!

They really are quite complicated Andrew and to rebuild them is out of the scope of anybody except specialists , the Arnott industries guys are specialists , they come with heavy duty German air research airbags . You actually have to cut them open to replace the bags and then reseal/vulcanise the tops back in , not easy . I will post up a post fitting report when I've got them in .

Apparently Sam Ferguson would disagree. This is what he said in another tread
"Not all greg my mate is looking at one at the moment that is a genuine LS400 with airbags. It does not how ever have the factory height controller fitted as in the celsiors"

Let us know how it goes Rich, I'm pretty seriously considering replacing all 4 of my bags with Arnott Industries units so I'm very keen to hear your thoughts.

We "MAY" be able to get a Group Buy discount on shipping if a few of us buy some set??? The price for the struts are great...but the shipping is a killer. Maybe if we get enough people together, get a heap of them sent down buy SHIP ... this would bring down the price alot.

I seriously looked at replacing the airbags with coil-overs or standard shocks and springs . the prob is I like my airbags and I think in the real world that they are relatively cheap , mine have only just failed after 15 years !! The main reason they fail is that the dampening goes in the shock part and gives the airbag a hard time , if one was to redo the shock part by replacing the oil and recharging them the air bags would last forever . I full intend pulling one aprt to see whats what . The problem with getting sone-one to look at it is I just can't see them having or being able to source the airbag or have the time and resources and money to find out how to do it for limited return because of the low volume it would have here in Aus and still be cheaper than Arnotts ?? Seeing as they do Range Rovers , Cadillac's and anything else that has airbags . Just can't see it and certainly not with a lifetime warranty on the airbag , however when I get them replaced I'll send you pne and see how you go . I know of 2 guys who have had new airbags put in and they were standard lexus units and even with the cost they think it was worth every cent !!

if you want one to look at i've got one sitting under my house. As you said the shocker went and the airbag copped it! It never 'failed' but it was bouncing everywhere. Cracks did form in the bag after 15 years as it got dry and brittle. But it never "popped"!

I saw a post on here some time ago , i think it was Mark Paddick, saying he was talking to someone who was cutting and shutting a Celica strut into an airbag. Mark?

Yes well , was chasing up the delivery today , supposed to have gone Fedex INT.PRI , I take that to read Fedex International Priority which is what I paid for [ economy is only $14.00 cheaper so went priority cost $198.00 ]and it should only take 3 to 5 days , however when I got the tracking number I discovered they have been sent ECONOMY !! They will be here on Monday . they said that when I get the rears they will make sure that they are labelled PRIORITY !!
