My local compliance company (Autoworx) claim that the Celsior already has intrusion bars in the doors from Japan, is this correct? I was originally told that the car needs intrusion bars to be fitted during compliance (15yr+). Which is correct?

Yes they have little ones that don't comply with Aust ADRs. If you can get the engineer to write a letter saying they comply then no worries. But he won't. The Soarer has a whopping big intrusion bar - a big pipe. The Celsior has little pressed steel bars that don't meet ADRs.

There is a C type section running from front to back on each door. You need to have either these removed and I believe its a 75x25 section welded at both ends installed or a section inserted into the c section and tac welded to it and welded at both ends to suit engineers specs..At the end of the day if the Engineer OK's it should be fine.. If the Jap pressed section has been passed i believe it's incorrect...I had a celsior with 1 door replaced from a 94..that door had a big bar like a soarer..

I was told it was a bit of a gamble of which Celsiors had them and those that did'nt, the workshop that complied car at the time said they had done 8 Celsiors and 3 of them needed to have side intrusion bars fitted, thankfully mine did'nt need to have it done.

different states different requirments. in south aust the engineer is required to keep photo's of the bars fitted with his paperwork. Same as if i was to buy a celsior that is registared in wa or qld, it would have to be reassesed for south aust, so if there is any changes that have not been done they will then have to be done before registration can be changed. And it is not that the doors do not meet the aus standards, because they met the requirments for the year that it was manafactured. In some states they require that the car meet the current standards.
