I totally agree with Daniel.

Just today 2 stupid bitches RED P-platers were sitting on my ass and just playing with me on their little lancer. I mean seriously what have you go to prove, specially on a public road.

I think the government needs to introduce or subsidise track days for younger drivers. Hopefully that will take the urge of racing from public roads. May be, Just may be.

I'm a green P plater and I seriously do not like having idiot red P platers tail-gating me, trying to gee me up. Not all P platers are idiot drivers guys, but I do agree that the majority of them can't control that little urge inside of them.

For example, one of my closest mates got a '96 UZZ31 back when we were in high school. One day, he and another close mate in a Lancer decided to race each other down the Cumberland Hwy.

What happened? A white van turns right from the opposite direction, so the Soarer had to swerve frantically just to miss it. He was doing about 140km/h, totally lost control, did a few 360's and took out a power pole and a brick fence. Thank god that power pole hit the driver's side front guard, otherwise my group of friends would've been very sad to this day.

What did I learn from that? Control that little urge :-)
It comes up once in a while, especially with my mates giving me slack about having a turbo for no reason. But I always give some excuse about how tyres for 20" wheels don't come cheap (and they don't!)

Another reason is because I just KNOW my Soarer will blow them Nissans away at the end of the day. So I don't see the point?

Sorry for the long rant, but I just hate it when people think all P platers are stupid and idiotic drivers.

P.S. I only ever raced my mate's NA Supra once. I now know that I may have put some innocent bystander's lives at risk and have controlled myself to never do it again!

Vinh.......I'm not trying to suggest that ALL P-Platers are poor or dangerous drivers. What I'm saying is that the problem P-Platers as a group have, is rocket scientists like the author of this thread and those that you see regularly plastered over the news. Accidents and moronic driving are not confined to younger drivers, but when it's younger drivers that are having the spotlight shone on them by the media, one would think that maybe it's time to pull the head in for a while, given that it may only take a few more well publicised deaths or serious accidents to make the pollies decide enough is enough and that some form of response is required so they're seen by the conservative majority to be doing something about the problem.

So what happens instead? You get duckheads like this plastering forums with their street racing exploits and more geniuses like the ones we all saw on the news in the VL adding fuel to the fire. As I said, the very same people then whinge and bleat when the over-reaction inevitably comes, and the ENTIRE younger driving community suffers thanks to a minority of morons.

Ollie, I wasn't directing that statement at you mate. It's just that most people with full licences who see me and my car tend to think "Oh.. He's on his P's. Bet he's fully sick and does burnouts, etc., etc."
That really sh!ts me :-)

But I do agree with you that there are a minority of P plate drivers that do a lot of stupid things. If you hate seeing P platers doing stupid things, you'd hate to go to Orange Grove McDonalds/Krispy Kreme at Liverpool on a Friday & Saturday night.

I totally agree with what you said above though. With all the recent media attention regarding P platers recently, it just looks like life for us and other sport car owners in general will suffer. Why? Because they all think racing and drifting is cool. Sure it's the norm over in Japan, but they're an entirely different culture and all these wannabes just want to copy them.

Thank god I'm off my P's in a few months. All this negative attention to P platers has caused me to be pulled over at least 5 times in the past two weeks. I never got pulled over for a year and a half before these incidents occurred.

Mark arent you the same person who asked for an invite on the next cruise/race?

Now your supporting Ollies comments?

Great comments on your race. Please note its not just Soarer owners here reading this, you don't have to enter a username and password to browse this site. If your going to do moronic things on the road, dont broadcast it. This is

Brag all you want with your mates. If you want to get flamed, singled out or mocked for stupidity, post here anytime

Im with you Vinh. I got T boned a few weeks ago by a red P plater doing an illegal U turn on double lines about 20 Metres after a main intersection with cars everywhere. I actually got questioned by work if I was doing anything wrong blah blah.. I was even asked if Im still on my P's

They'll fit right in there..

Duy, I hope that person got done for negligent driving. U-turns are meant to be made in a side street with no traffic, not on a main road (unless law permits)

Gentlemen...............(and I use the term loosely),
I am 53 years OLD, and I'm probably as guilty as most for doing the odd "Heroic" thing on the roads, but the difference IS............I have the experience, wisdom & knowledge to understand WHEN the time to "Back off" comes........

Yes I have done some F***in stoopid things in my driving career to date,...........BUT, I have survived, and in that time have NEVER hurt, damaged, inconvenienced, ANYONE..........Whatever!!!.

I suspect that this is a topic that will never die, nor should it!.

From my involvement with the ALSC/SC for 2 years, I've seen many a post on this site that makes me cringe, BUT, I have to say for the most part, we are ALL still here.................let's keep it that way.

Don, I'm sure everyone on this forum has done something stupid at least ONCE during their time on the roads. But the difference between a person on their P's and a person with 5+ years of experience would most likely be their egos.

I see losers in Honda's revving their engines every time they get close to me. Why? Because my car looks like it's fast? Don, you just don't know what it's like in Sydney these days. Friday & Saturday nights at Liverpool McDonalds has turned into a mini autosalon, with racing happening every 30 minutes.

Anyway, let's just hope the government doesn't over react on these incidents. It's not like only P platers die on the roads.

Absolutely right Don. I doubt any of us (myself included) could be considered angels on the road and yes, we've all done the odd silly thing out there. The thing however that concerns me is that the margin for error has diminished substantially over the years. In years gone by the old Holden and Ford sixes and V8s most people drove were flat out doing a serious speed which means you had some time to react when things go pear-shaped but now we have seriously fast cars within reach of most people. These cars are capable of 0-100kph in 7 seconds or less in stock trim (with most being substantially quicker due to mods) and have top speeds to match. Then add drivers with often less than 1-2 years experience driving these cars on increasingly narrow suburban streets with more traffic than ever before and at high speed and there's very little room for mistakes. Have a think about the kind of destruction of vehicles we've seen on the news recently like the EVO Lancer and VL Commodore completely obliterated in separate accidents in the last fortnight. Imagine the kind of speed required to do that sort of damage.

Despite manufacturers speed limiting many of these cars to 180kph (which I would have thought would be plenty) ask yourself how many threads you've seen with people asking how you defeat the speed cut. Then ask yourself how many of these same people you've seen post on threads about legal drag meets or circuit races. Virtually none is the answer. As such, where are these guys driving at 180kph+?

Well said Ollie. It doesn't seem that long ago that on the way to work there were plenty of opportunities to squirt a bit and pass slow cars without really speeding or taking excessive risks, but these days there just aren't enough gaps in the traffic to do it even though I could do it quicker.

Police couldnt help as I willingly gave this guy a fighting chance to get this sorted our with his insurance company. 2 weeks later, it got very risky so I called my insurance who took over.

Repairs are coming around good bro. Never seen anything like it 6 guys, SIX working on my car. Stripped to bare metal and all my panels are primed and ready for the respray =)

Duy, get your facts right bro, yes I am the same person asking about the next cruise but it is in a controlled environment hence a race track like Phillip Island!!!! How does this confuse you as when I agreed with Ollie (which I still do) he was referring to people who are doing it on streets when accidents could happen and innocent people could get hurt. In one of my earlier posts i clearly stated that if i met up with other drivers I would supervise, not that i'm judge judy or anything but being a bit older and wiser (well I hope) I would certainly encourage safe driving and a safe cruise. So I hope this helps your confusion my friend! P.s I have never spoken on this or any other link about doing races or dragging! Like I said yesterday life is to short and beautiful to be so stupid on the roads!

Hah, what Vinh described sounded an awful lot like the Mount Maunganui Macca's any given night of the week during summer! Or even the Turangi shopping centre carpark. Small town NZ is just as bad, its just the cars aren't as riced.

Mark, you better realise that baiting on this forum is not acceptable behavior. People have been banned temporarily and permanently for these kind of things. Just take it on the cheek and move on with your life mate.

As for people ganging up on you because they have better cars? That doesn't happen here mate, contrary to what you may believe. This website has been maintained by the moderators in a way that all the a**holes get filtered out. Some get through, but their stays tend to be short-lived.

Mark, it's great that you are excited to be here, and being part of this club is a bit of a buzz, however going off like a shaken bottle of soda pop usually means you blow it all in one go.

If you can just control the enthusiasm a little, your (and our) pleasure will last longer.

Hey Vinh and Peter etc etc ,I hear what your saying but im so not baiting anybody and dont thing I was seriously ganged up on, I was purely making a joke out of a silly situation as certain people were twisting what I wrote, hence why I made light of things in my last post so totally sorry if I came across like a shaken bottle of soda pop (Peter I like that one mate :-) Cheers for the advice to Vihn.
P.S for those that didn't make it to Phillip Island it was awesome, I truly have even more respect for these cars we love, they were crazy and watching them on the track was a real thrill. I had the pleasure of meeting Justin (Juzza down there) and wow that guy has an awesome ride and cheers mate for letting us take some cool photo's :-)
