Hi again guys.
Ive found another soarer I am keen on. Its a silver 95 UZZ31. The car is in pretty straight condition with 95k km. The interior is a little dirty, but hopefully a detailing should pretty her up. They are asking $12 grand. I have a couple of questions: 1. When I braked hardish at about 85km/hr (by no means locking up brakes) a warning flashed up in japanese - ive tried looking in the tech section, but I can't remember which message came up. Any ideas what this may be?
2. When i press the high/norm switch, how much does the height of the car change? How quickly does this happen? Do i need to be stationary?
3. Is there a workshop, preferably close to Mt Gravatt (Brisbane), that knows soarers inside out and would be able to perform a pre-purchase inspection?

1. Probably low brake fluid.
Take a print of the dash errors messages and see if you can check it. You can then choose to tell the dealer, or make out it's a really serious problem and he needs to drop $1,000 for repairs
2. A fair bit. Slowly. No. To check it, park it with engine running, get a coffee and watch it happen.

Lew is just down on the Gold Coast, so after a little 'Road Test' you will be right near by for he to examine it and give you a list of what mod's he can put on for a reasonable service (that does include free coke!)
...as in Cola...
As for the height, the best way to judge is have a coffee when pumping up, the put your cell phone on the wheel (just under the guard). If your cell phone dies, there is certainly reasonable height movement.
Although I have never actually tested this method...

I think Lew is the man to see, but he's not exactly close to Mt Gravatt. Perry always swears by Tuff Toys which is apparently in Bulimba but I think they're more in the business of selling Soarers rather than doing pre-purchase inspections. Even so, they may be able to help.

Does that mean you wouldn't be able to inspect it? Would you need the car in your workshop? The owner wasn't real keen on me taking the car all the way to Southport. On the bright side, I think I have bargained him down to $10,000, subject to mechanincs inspection.

They import sell and do inspections and repairs Tim. Naomi, if the owner is not happy with you taking it all the way to the coast and Lew for some reason is unable to make it, then I would have no probs in recommending you go to Tuff Toys. They are able to do what you need with no dramas.
