Hi,
Due to the arrival of our first kid around the end of May this year our current X-Trail will become the family car, so I have been looking around for something to get as a daily commuter for me (around 25km per day) and something to have some fun with perhaps on the track.
With a self imposed budget of $10k and the desire to get something with good performance it was recommended to me to look at the Soarers ... and I think I am hooked on the idea!!
Over the years I have owned a wide variety of cars, mainly in the UK where I am originally from. These range from a Citroen 2CV (first car) to a Honda S2000 before I left the UK 3 years ago. In between I had many Citroens and a Jag XJ6 (XJ40) 3.2.
So around May/June time I will be looking to pick up a Soarer 4.0 V8 for sub $10k, hopefully from a member here as I am a firm believer in owners clubs. Settled on the V8 for two reasons; 1) the car I get will be high kms and I would be worried about turbos, 2) I have owned 2, 4 and 6 cyl cars but never had a V8!
Kudos to the admin team and members here for such a great site, there is tons of info here that will help me a lot and I am slowly working through it all.
Will try not to ask any stupid questions and if I do end up with a Soarer hopefully I will make it to some meets and/or track days.

Are there any specific threads on what to look for when viewing a used V8? I have been looking around the site and there are a lot of specific threads about specific issues but I can't find a concise checklist that could be used when buying. Is there such a thing?
Also, when I get one it is going to be parked on the street (unfortunately), how is the security on Soarers? Are they targeted by thieves?
