Hiya everyone,
First off, I'm Canadian...so some of the aussie slang is a bit much for me-cutting back on it a small bit would be extremely helpful in our communications ^.^ [[I promise not to say "eh"]]
I can't figure out how to make my pictures show up in the post yet. [ I may just be having a retarded moment..but I have links to my photobucket instead. ]
This car is STILL in Japan, because having my aftermarket additions added there is cheaper than having them done in Canada. I'll fill you in on some of her specs.
1991 Toyota Soarer GT
1JZ-GTE Twin Turbo Automatic Transmission
Green
89,092 Km's
All Power Options / AC
A/M Remote Starter
A/M Exhaust
A.M 17" Wheels
Theres some interior wear..and some small scratches on the body but for a low price of $5500 dollars canadian and an auction rating of 3.5....how could I pass her up?
I have at least 3000 dollars for this baby and I want to make her better. I would prefer more asthetically pleasing additions [ Making the car LOOK awesome] rather than performance upgrades....but a few performance upgrades couldn't hurt....right?
As I haven't paid in full, I can instruct my broker that I'd rather wait and another Soarer will be found for me.
-What do you guys think? Can I make this car awesome? Is there something wrong with what I've currently posted about it? What brand aerokits look the best on the soarer etc etc. Any advice you may have for me would be appreciated!

Well alright. that was punk ass slang use dude. I mean really "Chuck another shrimp on the barbie" Shame on you for sinking to the use of a stereotypical statement coined by mindless tourists. Again! Say it again! Dance Monkey Dance! Lol ;)
Just yankin your leash dude
The Broker in Canada gets two types of insurance. Minor damage insurance incured during transport up to $1500 and total loss [ like crushed car..or ship lost at sea.]
Looks like you need to learn a bit of Aussi.hehehe FMIC I don't can't explain, but BFI=big f.....g intake. Also look at http://planetsoarer.com/ there you can see lots of Do it your self stuff.

Well...
I have one thing to say tonight.
I went to an internet cafe about 20 mins away to play NFS Underground 2 with a bud. On my way home in my moms 2006 Toyota Corolla Sport I hit a dog. The entire left side of the front bumper was torn off and shattered. Black dog...black night. Go figure.
So thats 1000 insurance deductable gone -.- Ugh. Dogs.
Thanks for the welcome all, but its a sad day to be the Canadian Boy. -.-

If you only have another $3000 to spend, I suggest you spend it on maintenance. No 16 year old car is going to be perfect. After timing belt, suspension rubbers, tyres, service and tuning, you might have just enough left to replace those filthy carpets.

Well I only have an extra 3gs right at this moment. I make $21 an hour where I work, so I doubt it will take long to recharge my fundage.
Yes..it was a medium-large sized dog. I'm serious..the bumper is just wrecked. it makes me wince just to look at it. I wasn't even speeding, Nah I have 2500 in my savings, which will now be 1500. [after payment to get moms car fixed] i have 8000 stashed for the purchase. and I make roughly 45000 a year. I'll be ok ^.^

Hey Drew, you'll find a few more of us Canucks on here too. Don't worry about it you get used to the Aussie terminology.
The BFI is either the Big F@#$ing Intake or more erm... politely known as the Big Flow Intake. Basically it is simply modifying your existing airbox for a lot more flow. If you search here for it there will be a LOT of posts regarding it and tutorials.
I don't know if you've been lurking this forum for a while but there are also some common problems that you may have to deal with once you get your car. Things like the infamous Blinky dash and several common cracks in interior parts
Also do be aware of the fact that body kits (especially big/low front bumpers) tend to get torn off of the car. It might be a good idea if you are planning on getting the body kit in japan to have it fitted then removed and packaged and sent inside the vehicle(only if you are shipping by container) or else talk to Will about shipping the bumper separate possibly inside one of his containers.
There are a few of us soarer owners down in Edmonton. That's where I'm from and at least three other Soarer Central members.
It's also usually a great idea to change all fluids and filters upon arrival. The coolant will not be mixed strong enough to sustain a -40 degree night like we have in alberta. Brake pads and rotors are something to check on, Likely new tires as well as the rubber these cars come over on is often old, dry, and literally cracked.
I don't know if you're coming down to edmonton to pick it up but if you do let someone from edmonton know and maybe we can do a little bbq/soarer meet at Will's shop or elsewhere.

I agree with Stefan. Make sure you get it thoroughly looked at by a mechanic. You may need to replace the timing belt, get the p/s pump reconditioned and change the bushes (suspension and steering rack) but hopefully not.
89000 kms in 16 years is not a lot. Just hope it's genuine. The outside of the car looks good, it's even got a tidy looking genuine Toyota front lip.
Planetsoarer has a full tutorial on the BFI as Jan wrote. It is not difficult to do.

Yo Scotty can you check out the import company I'm using "JDM Connection" They are based in eddytown. Actually I could be in edmonton later this month if you wanna chill and talk about my soarer..I really need some advice on brand on what body kit to get. Also....you guys ever seen a soarer convertible? ^.^ I'm interested in making a project to convert mine. I found a pic of one that I fell in love with.

No I'm actually just a lowly office administrator doing filing and excel spreadsheets. ^.^ I do work out at a site though.
I dont know your msn to add you..but I am on often and anm on now. I read that...shame about the convertible convert being so expensive...it is sexy as hell. I want the hood like in the white convertible on my soarer. I also found yet another kit that made me want it I looked at the list and the only couple I liked were the Phenix Target Street Attacker.
