Finally purchased my Soarer after far too many months addicted to this forum. Got it in Melbourne, bought it back on the Spirit to Devonport, then drove it to Hobart last week. 300Kms of open highway .. magnificent.
Am loving the smooth acceleration, the sound system and the plush leather interior (which is in perfect condition).
Got to do something with the headlights though - so dim! Also need to fix a little "jingle" I have going over small bumps.

Lovely car James.........well picked
I must confess to liking them clean & stock as well, with the exception of the original 15" wheels (too fiddly) and to that end I purchased a set of the 16" TT wheels, which to my mind look better, are easier to keep clean, and are still a FACTORY fit.

James, Welcome. Nice looking car. Hope most of the fix's have been done. As you may have seen on the forum, after some Meguiar's PlastX or Meguiar's Scratch & Swirl or Mothers Plastic on the outside of the lenses if not done before the sale, and on the inside of the lenses if you are really keen, and a headlight alignment, there are two worthwhile options on upgrading headlights both with very happy customers: 1. Soarer Central>>Rush Imports>>Update your headlights, and 2. HIDs [low beams, or both low and high beams] with any amount of information under Search. Enjoy!

Nice car, James! While mine is an excellent runner I always regret paying that extra to buy a really nice one, such as yours. Hope I see it around down here. Mine's an Imperial Jade Limited too, with the BBS 17" mags often found already fitted on imports (factory option?) It's easy to spot as it has the B pillars in their uncovered polished stainless steel finish. I agree about the 16" standard wheels - they look good and are also standard on the US SC400. Not as "busy" in their style as the 15" and with a better range of tyres available. I have a set to go on my car, but I think not until I've worn out my 17" tyres - could be quite a while! Mine's badged as a Soarer too, not SC400, but let's not go there...

Thanks for the tip, Jim - I hope to clean it up properly soon (the photos were done after a 10 minute wash).
John - will keep an eye out for your Soarer. You may see mine around the Salamanca area, as I work/park down that way. I've been seeing more and more around Hobart over the last couple of months, hopefully the trend will continue and we'll end up with some mechanics who know these cars well.
I also have to make a special thank you to Nik Peacock, who took me for my first ride in his 95 V8 Limited - after that I was convinced.

James, no issues with your car's appearance - the words after "As you may..." relate purely to your comment about your headlights being on the dim side. I had the same problem with my '91, and each step (cleaning lenses, alignment, upgrade [to HIDs]) in turn produced a marked improvement.

I know that 'honeymoon' feeling well, with my altered status from 'Melbourne newbie looking for V8,' to one of No longer looking, having bought my own 1992 UZZ31 V8 Limited on Saturday, and covering 300kms in the next day and a bit.
I am enjoying the same feelings as you, going for a drive 'just for the hell of it'. It has certainly rekindled my interest in driving again, at a point when driving had become something done for the A to B result rather than once more enjoying the journey. Long may it last. Any others considering a first Soarer / SC400 purchase then I can only say Go for it , and do it soon

Nice one James, I'll have to come and have a look soon. By the way that 'Honeymoon feeling' soon turns to 'keen interest' and then to what I call 'Soarer Obsession' when you start to question yourself as to whether you need to seek professional counselling, I spend at least two hours a day reading the forum's, scanning the import sites and ebay for my next 'project'.... must go now and do some work.

Nice car James, Good to see another Tas owner. I do have to agree with aaron though... It's good having such a nice performance/luxury car that not everyone else has, like excels and skylines... No offense to those of you which own either by the way. Any way Congrats and good luck with those lights...
