Hi guys,

I've been lurking the forums for a while now, thought i'd finally introduce myself now that I actually own a soarer.

Picked it up yesterday, its a straight, clean and pretty standard late '92 UZZ31 with a factory sunroof and aftermarket height controller. I'm very pleased with it, especially considering how cheap I got it.

My old car was a Celica ST162 which I'd spent endless amounts of time and money on (Gen 3 3SGE, GT-Four brakes etc.). Sadly it was written off in an accident. I thought i'd get something completely different, always been a fan of the 1UZ so I bought a Soarer. :-)

I'm a bit of a backyard mechanic, done a few engine swaps / conversions / restorations etc. This website has been an awesome resource for info on my soarer search. Thanks very much! I've already nutted out a few issues with my car but there's a few that I can't find info on:

- how to use the trip computer in the dash(in particular the scroll function).
- I believe I have a TT dash in my car. It doesn't have lights for the TEMS / Airbag suspension, the tacho has a 7k redline and jumps around a lot when accelerating.
- I keep getting the brake fluid warning, even though the level is ok (i just found a thread on how to fix that though :-) )

I just need to get a wheel alignment and fix the windscreen washer and I'm all set for RWC.

Looking forward to contributing to the forum and meeting fellow soarer enthusiasts. :-)

Cheers,
Andrew

Hi Andrew.

Scroll function is just that - you press it and it scrolls thru all the system messages. Just a basic diagnostics really.

7K readline does sound a bit sus. I only had a UZZ30, so I don't know if there were any extra lights for airbag suspension, but I would have thoght it would just alert you to any suspension issues on the scroll screen with the usual "bong" noise and red klingon.

Thanks for the replies guys. :-)

yep, definitely don't have the TEMS SPORT light and my redline is at 7000, not 6300 like the pic. Looks like I've got a TT dash. :-( A friend of mine has a TT, i'll have to compare it and see.

With the scroll function, does it just display the faulty systems or does it scroll through all of the systems and highlight the faulty ones somehow?

btw: daniel, have you replaced the neon tube in your dash? The display looks really good!

In other news:

This morning i discovered that the radio does have a band expander! No more Christian FM for me!

Filled the tank with optimax on the way home from work, the car feels much more responsive now. The previous owner must've been using regular unleaded in it.

Also forgot to mention in my first post, the car has a 2.5" cat back exhaust. It has a H pipe just after the cats, two small resonators then straight through to two bi-flow mufflers. I've been told it sounds pretty tough from the outside.

Forgot to say Andrew,

Yep i had the binki dash fixed and changed the lower part of the dash to blue

For the radio, you can always get Vlad radio conversion done which can display the names of the radio stations and converted the Japanese to English for the DSP functions.

Thought i'd chuck up some pictures to help with the Vic spotto. :-) I see heaps of Soarers around, surely some of them must be driven by forum members.

I'll vouch for that, sounds tough as nuts. Makes me shiver on take off, inside and outside the car.
