Eddie, try some different tyres next time - low profile will always transfer more road noise, but you can reduce it by choosing certain tyres.

Yeah, when I bought my 18" Focals I gave up BRAND new 80000 mile tires and almost cried (not really) of the awesome ride I gave up for just looks. Now they tell me if I get 30000 miles out of these tires I'm lucky! lol The price you pay to look good!!

The rims are 19", I think they look a bit smaller as the spokes do not extend all the way to the rubber. The tyre shop guy recommended sets like this.

They looked huge on the car, but personally I don't think they suit a soarer????? Personal preference I suppose, what do u think?

The mirrors are the old Bomex side mirrors.... or maybe vertex? . They take a bit of getting used to, its like a large blind spot mirror.

Yeah your are right about the tyres Matthew, I think im paying for it now because they are crap tyres, I think I will pay the arm and leg required for some nice 19" rubber.

Thanks for the comments guys

They are nice rims. Personally I love the suggested ones. I think they would suit a Soarer, not too dis-similar from the original TT wheels in my view. I would love a set like that. I think it is all about personal preference though, I prefer something simple and I think those would look great on my car. Anyone got a spare couple of grand?

You did the right thing Eddie, Soarers need dish, and those other ones look like Old West wagon weels.

Very nice Eddie. I've been wanting a set of wheels in that style for quite a while, but just can't justify the expense at the moment.

As for road noise, some tyres may take some time to bed in. I have just replaced a set of Nankangs and the new tyres make a lot more noise than the old set.
