Nice car Ash. Were you on Portrush Rd the other morning near the intersection for Portrush/Payneham? I think it was wed or thurs.

Check out the SA Events section for details on the cruise. Hope to see you there.

I miss that Dan Murphy's in the shopping centre on that corner. I used to taste all the wine then stagger home half-pissed for free. Wicked fish and chip shop there too.

Welcome Ash! You're now what seems the 30,000th SA member!

The boot size, for starters! But I must say, they're one of the finest cruising cars ever built, with highway fuel economy that puts slightly smaller Australian-made 6 cyl's to shame. I read in the Royal Auto the other day an article about buying a secondhand Falcon (2002 model), and I get better mileage from my V8 Soarer. If that's not practicality, I don't know what is.

Who cares if it's got two doors? There's enough room for me and my woman, and I don't care who has to sit in the back!

Welcome Ash, Nice to have a new member! :-)

I knew that car was familiar, the wheels gave it away! Did you buy this Gold UZZ30 from Peter Kerwin?

Heres his car (you car) featured on PlanetSoarer with Peter Scott comparing his UZZ32 Active to it.

Well spotted Mike! I have driven that car too, in fact I think I saw a small tear in Peter's eye when he told me he had sold it.

Definitely would be a good buy, it looks in exactly the same condition in these new pictures to the ones on the Planet Soarer page, SIX! years ago. :-) That say something!

Testament to how Peter has looked after it as these cars deserve.

yeah, i found that a while ago too, it really is crazy to see that most thing are still the same and that the condition is still top notch

Its been almost a year now. A year since I first saw my now car at the lexus dealer on Glen Osmond road. I think Peter had just traded in for a BMW and the car was still dirty inside and out. I remember being amazed at how long it was and how it looked like it would be more comfortable doing 120km/h. I still have the photo that I took through the fence and can remember the feeling that this could be a car that I could feasibly attain and that it would be awesome.

I went back the next chance I got; it must have been the Friday or Saturday 19th or 20th of December. They had parked the car out on the street and the guy gave me the keys to fire it up. The sound was indescribable and something that I sensed with much more than just my ears. It was more beautiful than any car I had heard before and that was only idle. I got up and walked to around it to check out the pipes while it warmed up a bit. The guy came back and told me to give it a bit of a poke. The sensation of feeling the brilliantly tuned sound for the first time still excites me today as I write this. It was raw like a racecar but smooth like a tigers growl. I took some more time to check out the interior and of course, fell in absolute love with the dash, being the nerd I am. I was also astounded with the stereo which was amazingly dynamic for a stock system. I have since replaced the stereo with a touchscreen dvd player because the old system skipped and had poor tune but I do miss the fidelity and tone of the original.

I don’t remember that much of the test drive. It was incredibly smooth. I had just driven back from Melbourne the day before in a 1.5L Lancer GL (with no cruise control) so the power was immense. It pulled by just putting your foot down a little, the V8 torque so seamless through the silky gearbox. I was a bit unsure about the auto box but stuck my toe in at around 40km/h and felt the kick down and didn’t worry about it again.

The dealer didn’t have the papers ready so I had to come back the next day, it must have been Saturday. I can’t remember what happened but it ended up being the Monday, the day before Christmas and I was sitting in the dealer, I had sorted the paperwork. All that remained was for the finance to clear. There was a deep desire to just have the car and feel the intoxicating pull of the engine and hear that exhaust. I had spent hours the night before looking at all the websites, reading a million posts, googling all the combinations of Toyota, soarer, v8, lexus and sc400 that I could think of.

It didn’t happen. Unfortunately the day before Christmas isn’t the time to do a deal. People had gone home early, things didn’t clear, I had to go home feeling so empty. It was ok, it was mine but the thought that I had to wait was too painful. There was Christmas which I hoped would result in an elaborate trick that people had played which would result in it being in the driveway with a huge bow. No dice. There was boxing day which I spent looking at every detail of planetsoarer that I could see. Then, eventually, I think it was the 28th. I finally picked up my car and the rest is history!

Hi Welcome,
I am green with envy that my 32 doesn't look nearly good in fact nothing like it.
Hopefully that will change when I get to Adelaide at the end of the month for 6 weeks and see about getting a respray. A backyard guy -highly recommended- tradesman does resprays for $950 plus extras.
A local bloke (FNQ) wanted $7k to do a full respray and $1350 to do the front bar.
