Also with Shannons. I have found them to be very good, competitive rates, can pay premiums monthly, quarterly or yearly.

Try calling shannons again, but when they ask if you're part of any car clubs etc, say YES, i'm a member of soarercentral, and toymods, i go on cruises with them etc.
Then they might help you.
Just remember you ARE an enthusiast !! and you need to act/talk like one lol..

Razvan, does your Soarer drink a lot of fuel in the first 10mins of driving in the morning, then sort itself out? Mine does around 5kms/litre for about 5-10mins then goes back to 10kms/litre...

Does anyone else experience this?

What can I do to fix?

I find the more i drive it in a day, the better the fuel consumption gets...

How do you judge it does 5km/l? The standard fuel gauge is not that accurate to give a reading like that over 10 minutes!

Either way, you'll find that most fuel injected japanese cars run rich as buggery on startup (cold start feature). Only way around it is aftermarket ecu.

I'm talking roughly. If i start the car on 50 litres of fuel, within 10kms i've gone through 2-3 litres already. I assumed it was cold starts but wasn't positive.

My UZZ30 was a bit like that as I recall. Most petrol cars will use more fuel on a cold start due to the auto choke or equivalent, but the UZZ30 was very noticable. My JZZ31 is what I'd consider "normal"

What does an aftermarket ECU do exactly?

What can i pick one up for...roughly?

What about a piggy back ECU?

When the car is started in the morning it uses up a bit more fuel (also because i am stuck in traffic and going up hill) so it drinks ~ 1.4-1.6 L for 8.1 km. 2-3 L/ 10 km sounds too much unless you are booting it all the way...& even then. Average consumption is ~15L/100km for a full tank, but a lot of driving is spent in traffic going to/back from work.

It could be O2 sensor which can take some time to get up to temp (do Soarers use heated O2 sensors? Or do they rely on the exhaust temp to heat it? If it is the latter then fuel consumption will be worse as the car is running rich without the proper information from the O2 sensor.

As for the switch, something to try (after having a similar switch on my Soarer)- Try pressing the horn with it on and off. On mine (for some odd reason) it changed the pattern of the horn so that it kind of faded out at the end. Seems like a pointless mod to me haha
