Hey all. Name is Mohit and i'm looking at getting back into a Toyota. Used to own a RAV4, sold that for a Mitsubishi Verada which i supercharged. Now looking at either an Aristo TT auto or a Soarer TT manual.
Couple of quick questions:
(1) Is the going rate for a new A/C compressor installed around $1500?
(2) I currently have a Kenwood Double DIN 7" head unit which i want to put into a Soarer if i buy one. Most aftermarket head units i've seen in a Soarer stick out from the dash. Is it possible to have the head unit sitting flush?

Mohit.
Not sure about the cost of a new AC compressor, but $1500 sounds in the ball park. Best idea is to get a late model car with a good compressor in it already. Its mostly older Soarers that are having AC compressor issues.
I've seen plenty of flush mounted after market units in Soarers. I'd say its all a matter of how much effort you put into mounting it.

Thanks guys. Also, the car i'm looking at has the climate control LCD screen bleed. Where would the best place in Melbourne be to get both the A/C compressor and LCD screen bleed issues fixed?

Thanks all for the welcomes
I'm looking at 2 more Soarers on the weekend (both of them single turbo VVTi). One of them has the following problems after speaking to the seller on the phone:
(1) Cigarette burn mark in driver's seat. Could a trimmer fix it or better if i went for a new seat (brown colour interior)? How much would another seat cost i wonder?
(2) Climate control works but temp sensor is faulty. Not sure which sensor the seller was referring to. After reading some forum threads it looks like there are at least 3 sensors (dash top, under steering wheel and in front bar). Are these sensors expensive and are they hard to replace?

90% of the time the dash sensor has just not been put back EXACTLY in the right spot after the dash was worked on (i.e. alarm installed). A small drop of super glue and waiting five minutes before you put the lower dash back is my recommended solution.

Sorry i didn't mean buying a whole new seat, just the original seat fabric off a seat from a wrecked Soarer. Would look OEM and get rid of the ciggie burn.
Will check out the climate control sensors properly when i see the car on the weekend.

If its just a single burn, they can be fixed reletively cheaply - a good auto trimmer should be able to repair it for under $100. The repairs are not perfect, but you'll never spot it if you don't know where to look.
