Hey hey!

I'm absolutely stoked I've just bought myself beautiful, fully optioned v8 soarer UZZ31 :-)

Although I'm a rotary man at heart I'd figured that I'd had enough of folding myself up to fit in rx7's and enough of the whole... smelling like a lawnmower when you get out. :-)

So anyway... I don't get it until Wednesday... but I just wanted to pop in and say hi! Looking forward to getting started on the BFI after a couple of days... although - considering the condition of the car - I don't really want to be cutting up stock parts I might buy a 2nd hand airbox and modify that.

Either way... pics up wednesday! Wouldn't mind getting involved in any soarer cruises if people are up for that?

Matthew. Keep an eye on the SA events section too, as we should be having a Fix-it day when the weather clears a bit. :-)

Welcome Matthew,

Yeah some more cruises in SA would be great, seems to be huge spaces between them.

Welcome Mate

You have chosen the right car, reliable and a Toyota, and 8 cylinders! :-)

Enjoy!

Hmm looks like a nice soarer matey, although I have to say the wheels dont do anything for it.

You could probably sell them for a good price and get a set of better 17" rims that handle nicer and cost a lot less, plenty out there.

I know I would in a flash! :-)

Hi,
A new UZZ32 for FNQ No294 It has been stuck in the workshop getting a suspension overhaul (about $7000) before it can be registered.
If it hadn't been for this site and others and and the assistance and advice from Peter Taplin and Andrew Vlamos all of whom extolled the 32's handling and other virtues it might have ended up being recycled. There is thousands more to spend, electronics etc etc BUT Somehow everytime I look at her, smell the leather or read something about the car or catch another glimpse, THE AMOUNT OF MONEY DOESN'T SEEM TO MATTER, what does matter is MAKING HER PERFECT.

I'm busting to take it for a REAL drive.

Mmmmm think how much nicer they can be too with new suspension bushes, struts and engine/box mounts!

..........As by now every 1991 soarer will surely need attention in that department - results are brilliant, but there are over 20 individual bushes through out the car so not too cheap!

Hey Mike we should let him have a few moments of hedonistic (self pleasuring) before being made aware of some of the harsh realities and expenses of owning a 17 year old Luxury GT.
That lot for a UZZ32 is about $7K almost double what I paid for the car. If your going to do it do it once and do it right see Andrew Vlamos for bushes and Peter taplin for Struts. Everyone says so and everyone can't be wrong

Haha too right Michael, I just like to clarify the important facts with owning these cars before getting to excited as though everything is nice and dandy - which is not quite the case with a 17 year old car as you say!

I myself am looking to spend at least few grand on my limited this year to sort out the many small issues that I want to repair to make it new, specifically the brakes, hinges, mounts and suspension parts.

Results will be heaven though!........

Give the car another 10 years of quality ride performance easily!

Yep "About Those Other Expenses" if it wasn't for this and other similar sites I doubt I'd have had the courage to tackle them and I would have deprived myself of an immesurable amount of smug self satisfaction. But Ohhhh the electronics I honestly thought I might bypass a lot of that stuff by not Buying a 928 - it was destined to happen - I think the Soarer 32 is overall a better all round GT. It seems they cost about the same though hmmmmmmm

I agree completely Michael,

About 4.5 years ago now when I was first intrigued with the thought of owning a Japanese 4 litre V8 GT car - the Toyota Soarer, I could have NEVER enhanced my interest and eventual ownership of a whole bunch over the years including a celsior without Peter Scott's legendary Planet Soarer website I discovered not long after becoming interested in the Soarers. Which lead to Peter N's Soarer Central I found a little bit later and joined in 2005... these sites have been beyond helpful - They are the backbone to my ownership of Soarers as EVERYTHING about them is covered in some way on the net - nothing is left in the dark which made them such a car to have considering what a bargain they are. These resources are really priceless at the end of the day - a HUGE thumbs up to the pioneers that started it all in Australia!

I would have probably not owned one if these sites didn't exist so I and everyone else has a lot to thank for them!

Too true Michael, a LOT of people have found the Soarer (particularity the 32) as an alternative to Porsche 928's, the Mercedes Benz SL500's and BMW 840i's from the experiences they shared. It generally came down to the fact you got more for your dollar, better performance and ease to work on which was not the same with the German equivalents.

Gosh I love the Toyota Soarer!
